Our friend, Alan, is back in town and was looking for some sailing companions when he called us this morning. For several summers he's been teaching us how to sail, so it was fun to be back out on the water. He and Ken get everything set up and take us out of the harbour, and then I typically man the tiller. Oh, I couldn't do it without Alan's directions and guidence, but it's relaxing fun & we had a gorgeous day! We saw a number of seals, loons and (Karen, just for you!) a Monarch butterfly flew over us when we were near land. This is another of those days that will be a good memory long after summer is gone!
When we came in this evening, we went right down to see how Dill was, post op. He looks like a little prize fighter with one puffy eye, but the doctor did a great job of stitching him up, and he'll look great when that heals. Thanks for the prayers & hanging in there with me. Here's a photo I took of him tonight http://365daysintheyear.shutterfly.com/3274
That's a wonderful photo, and it looks like you had a marvelous day for sailing. what fun that must have been. And glad to hear Dll is doing fine. What a cute kitty.
Your photo has really captured what you described, Louise. What a beaut day and great memory.
All we have here atm is wind and rain, but at least not too cool.
I am so jealous! I love sailing but I don't get to do it anywhere near as often as I would like. It looks like you guys had a perfect day on the water. Hope Dill is okay!!! I missed what happened so I am going back through your posts now. *hugs*
nothing like being on a sailboat! We used to sail as kids off the coast of Maine, I have many fond memories of those days. Glad to hear Dill is doing well.
What a great perspective... Letting us see a little of the boat, and the guys, and the scenery! Another beautiful day in paradise! Oh yes, dill looks great in pink bow!!!
This is how out-to-lunch I am!
I just noticed that the Aug picture for the calendar in my kitchen ( a freebie of CDN photographs, that my pharmacy gives out every year ) is of Lunenberg! It's only almost the MIDDLE of the month! Duh!
What a great picture, love all the different shades of blue in it !
So happy Dill came out of surgery all right. His eye doesn't look too bad.
I haven't been going away on vacation for over 10 years now (have to care for my dear animal friends and don't mind it at all), but through your pictures I do get a great alternative vacation, all for free!!!You do such great things, you must have a marvellous summer!!! Enjoy!!!
Beautiful boat! Do you know what kind she is? This makes me wish I was out on mine right now! It's so peaceful out there, isn't it? I'm so glad to hear Dill's surgery went well. He does look like a little furry prize fighter
I posted a reply on my picture but wanted to make sure you saw it so:
Funny that you mention back to school time since Nathaniel just started 1st grade on Monday. Maybe that was part of the inspiration! We still have the large box of 8 crayons but now he prefers the fat markers and *my* crayons. LOL! I completely understand about the lack of hours in the day. I am definitely struggling with this myself some days. I am spending as much time outside as I can on the weekends while the weather is still cooperating and am definitely looking forward to this weekend and getting to visit Yosemite for the first time for my birthday. Our lives truly are an embarrassment of riches! =D
A very manly picture. I can just hear the "Old Spice" theme playing in the background! Good news about Dill. Will you be around for the duration of his convalescence? I know you'll be sorry to leave him along with all the other delights of your vacation home.
Wonderful shot... makes me wish I could be on a boat! =) This also reminds me of the song...
♪ Sailing... takes me away to where I've always heard it could be... :)
Thank you so much for your comments - even though I'm still only just catching up with posting my holiday pictures - how fun that you have been sailing too - I've missed keeping up with everyone while I've been away (Dill had an operation? I'll have to go back and see the story behind that, but am glad to learn he is doing well)...your photo is beautiful - I found it quite difficult to get good shots when we were actually sailing - all that light and movement and being shouted at by "The Captain" to winch something or other!
What a lovely shot, Louise. So serene. I love all the blues. I am so happy to hear Dill is feeling better. Poor guy - I looked at his "after" pic and he still looked a little out of it from the surgery. I will continue to send positive thoughts his way and I hope he is back to his old self soon.
Well, aren't we nattily nautical? Great shot and yes, love all the calm blues. So glad to hear that little Dill made it through surgery with flying colors and love the shot of him with his pink ribbon. He's just sooooo cute! :-)
I miss sailing. I decided many years ago that its best to Know Someone With a Sailboat, instead of maintaining one.
Dill looks fantastic. That's a great job on the stiching but I wouldn't let him see the picture when the drugs wear off..That pink ribbon makes him look rather girly!
Louise, I had a super busy week and missed this! How wonderful that you got to go out sailing on Mahone bay. Where does he keep his boat? August is just the best time to be on the water up there. Glad you enjoyed it!
