No sooner had we arrived in Chicago Friday evening, I was on the phone with Ashley and told her we looked forward to seeing her Saturday morning. We were sure we'd spend time with her and John again before the baby was due to arrive on the 18th, but in the early morning they headed to the hospital/birthing center and the happy news came by phone call around 11! I'd been responding to comments when the phone rang! Everything changed as Ken and I dashed out the door along with the new aunts, Heather and Tina. "Ashton Oliver", our first grandbaby and newest family member, is a 7#14oz adorable and healthy baby boy! Mom & Dad were all smiles and and seemed quite happy with today's production number! You can guess where we'll be for the rest of our visit!
Oh my, I can see the joy inyour big smile Louise. It is precious, and your new Grandson, he looks perfect. Mother looks like she is doing quite well too. It is a wonderful photo. So happy to hear the good news, and a new chapter begins.
HURRAY+++++++++Ashton has arrived and all is well. I am so happy for you all. He looks precious and perfect! I wish the best to each of you as you enter this most remarkable time of life.

I'm still just stunned but the comments from *so many* of you, my circle of friends here! I'm afraid this might never be seen by all who've written, but I'm not going to find the time it would take to make all the proper replies. For the time being, to answer the question many of you asked, Ken and I are fine with Grandpa and Grandma...I have the feeling that by the time Ashton talks, he'll come up with something we never thought of, and that's just perfect, too! While the new parents look after the baby, we're doing more of the errands and cooking for them. So glad he arrived at the start of our visit as I know we'll have a full portion of cuddle time. I feel badly I don't have more hours in the day to answer all your notes individually, but I know you understand! From the bottom of my heart, *Thank You* for your amazing thoughtfulness!
oh, i've been so, so busy (though clearly not as busy as ashley!) Fantastic news Louise & Ken - I have begun from the last post and working my way backwards. I bet you have thought you heart would burst with Love when you first saw baby Ashton Oliver, love his name. The heart is a most remarkable Organ it can stretch, beyond imagination, with so much love, and yet after 11 grandchildren, I can tell you that it just keeps stretching with Love so much that after the first few you wonder how you would ever be able to Love another as much - it is like the First all over again.
