Last visits…last good-byes…a last look at the baby who’ll look different in two months…last Chicago photos…and Heather leaves us at the airport with hugs and kisses… Now, I can turn my mind to the next adventure… Our bags are weighed and tagged, and this seems an appropriate way to make the transition… We’re headed to Madrid in the morning…
A perfect flight, and walking through the terminal, the sun breaks the horizon and I’m surrounded by a language spoken that I can understand in words or two. The airport is immense and I think we walked from one end to the other! We catch a commuter flight to Naples, fly across the Mediterranean, try to absorb the sights below as we approach the city, land safely, pass quickly through customs, the doors open, and there are our friends, Billy & David, Lunenburg neighbors, to meet us. All we see is “the familiar”, and it’s awhile before the reality of this “foreign country” seeps in. An hour’s bus ride delivers us in Vico Equence where we’ll be staying for the coming week. Yesterday’s Nov 3rd departure is now Today’s Nov 4th arrival. We drag baggage to our flat, settle in, eat a delicious dinner prepared by the guys, visit awhile and head to bed at a reasonable hour. We’ve got plans for filling our days ahead…rest while we can!
(Tue, 11-09_While, like all of us, I love hearing from you and receiving comments, I can see my computer time is going to be very abbreviated. I’m writing offline & will drop by an Internet Café to upload to 365 before going off for more sightseeing. Even I am amazed how little spare time I have when the days are full. You’d laugh to know how often I think of one and another of you, but for the present I won’t be commenting on 365. Sorry to have to stick this on every picture for awhile, but I want you to know why you haven’t heard from me!)
How awesome! I was looking at your latest kitty picture and had to backtrack to see where you were! I'm so glad that you travel so that I can see the world through someone else's eyes.
Italy is my favorite foreign country so far, the food, the architecture, the people, the art, the scenery. I could go on and on. I hope your journey leads you to a fantastic vacation!!!!
I had to laugh when I saw this picture, `to nap via mad`- that is just exactly how I spent my weeks!! (madly busy on weekdays, til I get the chance to take naps on the weekend!!)
Italy is wonderful, I was there only twice but I loved it very much! I'm sure you'll have a lovely time there!! Enjoy!!
You guys are amazing! I remember a while back you mentioned how you love armchair traveling with everyone on 365...well, when I am traveling with you & Ken, I need to buckle up my armchair - you guys are quite the jet-setters! Glad to hear that all of your flights brought you safe & sound to your friends.
Oh my goodness!! Two months in Italy? You lucky thing, you! You will miss your grandbaby, but that's what Scype video is for, right? (That's how we connect up with grandparents here, anyways! Hawaii to NC)
Have a wonderful time in Madrid. Looking forward to words & pictures. :)
