The sky was overcast as Ken and I went for a walk in the afternoon on a path that took us far back into the valley. Sounds were muffled by snow, and the loudest noise was the loud crack, like a gunshot or rolling thunder, as immense icecicles dislodged from the cliff face high overhead We walked along rushing streams and snow-covered pastures passing only a few other people and no cars. The rock- wall cliffs were covered with waterfalls, one the entire height of the face. For the natural beauty, this is an incredible sight.
In the evening, we walked into town for dinner, only one restaurant open, and the streets rolled up. High above on the rock wall, a golden Christmas star hung above the town, and when it lined up as we passed the town’s church, also bathed in light, it was a beautiful sight!
Fantastic. Love the little Suise villages scatterred throughout the mountains. We would ski from one town to another and find a hut along the way for some gluvine. Have you had any yet? Warm muled wine, a must try.
Wow - you must feel like so far away from home. Do you get a little homesick sometimes during such a long journey? I've never been away longer than a couple of weeks. Beautiful photo!
Oh my gosh! This is so picture-postcard-ish! Gorgeous shot! It's so hard to imagine all the drizzly skies when looking upon all that snow, though. Love reading about your trek into the wilds with Ken. :-)
I'm glad you are willing to walk in the cold and snow. It would be a very limited experience if you were only willing to go out on warm sunny days! What a beautiful scene this is. Can't wait to see all your photos. I'm assuming you'll post batches on flickr or some such site?
I cannot believe the view, and the mountains are gorgeous. I can imagine it must be cold, but there you need to go out and about if you want to get those magnificent shots. I am certain you have seen some breathtaking views. A great photo.
@jomarie We're on a trip with friends and staying in Switzerland this week. Home is Southern California. Since we're new to following one another, I can see why that was confusing!
Hi Louise. I just read all about your day and I'm enjoying the pictures of
Lauterbrunnen. myself I have never had the opportunity to visit Switzerland even when I was still living in Germany. it looks so beautiful and very picturesque. will stop in again when time allows .I guess you haven't had time to see my pictures lately and that is understandable as you follow so many people and won't come across me as I'm not one of them. just wanted you to know that I posted some of the Candy houses (Decemer 5th) as I told you I might around Saint Nicholas Day. please continue enjoying your vacation.
