We went out to run errands today, driving along the river. The color...the reflections...a sunny day that turned overcast...colors and pallet changing by the hour... At one point Ken suggested, "We need to drive longer than five minutes between stops or we'll never get home!" I *know* this is the Grand Finale, the last opportunity, the colors that will disappear for another 10 months... Drink it in, appreciate it, "kiss the day good-bye"...
And what do I see, but that shift to a color palette of evergreen and holly berry... We're never left without beauty when we make those many stops to appreciate it!
Louise, I just love this capture. The detail you've caught is amazing. It looks like the leaves are edged with stitching. Wish I could give it more than one fav
@golftragic@quietpurplehaze I should be thanking everyone for all the nice words, but about my darling and patient Ken...(he really is *the best!*) He keeps book on his phone, and I often find him reading when I return to the car...if I didn't have himout and carrying the tripod for me!
I love this - perfect seasonal capture all around Louise! Regarding Ken, thank goodness I have Rob to help me get half of my captures. Especially when we were travelling, I could always count on an extra hand. It's so wonderful to have supportive partners! ;)
@d_lopes I went to look at what you'd done recently and see (sadly) you've pulled your photos! I'm sorry I wasn't a better friend, commenting more often, but life has been crazy-wonderful this summer here in Nova Scotia. Tomorrow we're hosting 8 opera students and a Maestro & his wife from Italy for a lunch here... how's that for an example! The photo opportunities are endless...May you find yours as well! (Are you in college this fall? My best to you!)
@panthora Hey sweet friend...thanks so much! Can't you just feel these colors transitioning to the burgundy's and evergreen? ...a little sparkle of Christmas lights? I was right about that "last hurrah" yesterday... today was blustery and rainy...a wonderful day to be inside cooking! It's going to be so difficult to leave here, I'm going to need uplifting reasons to return...like grandkids, Christmas, and new friends with whom I can gather on the beach at sunset, camera in hand!
These leaves look like red velvet. OK, Louise, I was challenged by Gena Pegg and Cathie Glennon to post nothing but B&W photos for the next five days. Now I'm continuing the challenge by challenging you to do the same and then to challenge someone else. (Photos don't have to be taken same day as posting.) Have fun!!
@Weezilou Yes, dear friend, I am so looking forward to meeting you, and that should give you enough incentive to leave that paradise you call Lunenberg with a lighter heart! :-))
@aglennc Let Gena and Cathie know that Adam is going to continue to carry the torch! @adambralston you can all leave him a note of inspiration... do we have a tag for this that we can go back and update?!
