The Wall of Shame ... by Weezilou

The Wall of Shame ...

On the occasion of seeing an old year out and a New Year in, what do I bring you but a half-eaten loaf of bread.

This, however, may be the first day of the year in which I only took six photos of two subjects!

I had an MRI this morning (bum knees...would like to know why...) ... interesting photo op, but it didn't seem like a good idea...

We went to a very cool store with lots of fun items and I bought a huge red "temple" bell with white snowflakes and a Christmas tree painted on it...very Scandinavian looking. The man who checked us out remembered us from yesterday and said, "You're back for *more*?" "Well, Yes Sir, I am..." I *Need* this bell for a gift to my friend in Nova Scotia...and while I'm here, I'll get some plates with snowflakes on them because they're half off on sale and they look more *wintry* than *Christmasy*... And I'll take the owl salt and pepper in red and green because they're really inexpensive now and they'll *blend in* when I decorate the table next year... I decided to forego the St Frances statue as the price was still too high, even with a small discount...and it would have been yet another impulse buy...

On a roll now, we headed to the grocery where they still had an aisle overflowing with Christmas sale merchandise. (You'll never find me out on the 26th fighting for a roll of discounted wrapping paper!) Yesterday I'd bought two candles on sale. I tested them last night and they made the room smell wonderful so I headed back to clear the shelf...

And so we come to my photo... We were clearly getting hungry as the day had worn on, so I picked out three loaves of bread, all taste tempting! I selected this one to have cut, deciding it would taste good on the drive home (a lengthy 3 miles away...but you know how long that feels like when you're hungry...or need to pee...)

So...a slice for you, and a slice for me...(the larger pieces out of the middle of the loaf, of course...) And two more... Yummo...hits the spot...and a couple more...

We arrive home and here's what's left... I look it over and decide it's photo worthy of a journaled moment...and I read the packaging...

"Baked to be savored... Made to be shared..."
Wouldn't they be pleased that we paid such rapt attention and did as they suggested...

(Little wonder that Weight Watcher classes are full to over-flowing after the first of the year...)

And another P.S. ... I don't think that bell is going to make it to Nova Scotia... I already hung it in my yard...

And if you'd care to see that aforementioned bell: http://365project.org/Weezilou/album-excess/2014-12-30
You had me at the loaf of bread... I loved this commentary! I can identify with picking up a few items as the price is too good to pass up! Quite a day!

You have had an interesting day...... (Yeah, we stay home on the 26th too!!) The bread sounds so yummy! Love your journaling...... FUNNY!!! Oh, I don't know. I think a photo of that big hunkin' MRI "thing" would have been different, at least. .Bad knees!!! Ah, I know those well..... both have been replaced..... along with both hips. Damned arthritis......

I love the narrative that goes with this shot! Bread, gotta love it. Dave came in yesterday and asked did I know that I had three loaves of bread in the kitchen? Of course I knew - there was walnut bread, olive bread and a lovely Irish whole wheat soda bread (non yeast) I'd baked! Silly question!

@ceilidh I pulled Ken aside as I read your note above to him... Classic, isn't it...in a Mars/Venus way... OF COURSE we know we have multiples of tasty treats...and that's just the item at the top of the list... We women are moved by our senses and thus "fill our plate"... Men wander through and ask for a taste. Because of us, "it's there for the asking"...

They'll never "get it"... lol...love the shared moments (of understanding!)

Louise, I thought you would like to know that Elizabeth from 365 had to have Eliot put to sleep. I just read it on Facebook. Very sudden from what I can read. So sad. About 13 hours ago it happened.

I just love reading your bubbly narratives. It's like being right there with you, feeling the love and exuberance you have for life and its treats, including bread. Got a chuckle over the mention of the center of the loaf and the 3 mile journey home. Happy New Year to you and yours!

OK, let me see, was that six slices per three miles....or, more?....so, that makes two slices per mile, see, when you look at it that way it's not that bad! ;-))) Seriously, that bread looks yummy....and, so fresh. I think the Julian bakery had that Jalapeno/cheese combo, and it was good!! Thanks for sharing!
I hope the MRI shows something that can be fixed easily....we have a lot of hopping to do over hills and meadows chasing that perfect light!

@panthora I like a friend who will justify anything for me to make the bad habit less noticeable! Yes, that bread was still warm...what's a hungry tummy to do?! This was from Ralph's bakery... I'll let you know what I hear about the MRI...I never was a good hill hopper, but I look forward to moving more quickly again! You DO make me smile Missy!
