Not being a terribly cryptic person, and the fact that I wear my heart on my sleeve, you probably know plenty enough about the two of us. After once again proving his metal, caring for me night and day for the many past weeks, we were able to go to brunch with our kiddos and have a spectacular time!
Now don't laugh, but we came home and took naps this afternoon when the little family left... then rose and later went to dinner with friends, again having a fabulous time and another excellent meal!
Through a number of the many possibilities couples encounter in life, we've been a team, moving forward and always sharing a great friendship. I can't think of a better way to have lived this life. We both consider ourselves rather lucky and very blessed.
Louise & Ken, I mean it from the bottom of my heart, how happy I am for the two of you. From the moment I met you guys, you made me feel welcome and part of an extended family. You will never know how much that meant to me. Congratulations on 47 years. I wish you many more. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
@thirdjoe Joe, that is so dear and so touching...you're the best! I just told Ken what you'd said and he, too, said how very nice that was. Hallmark has nothing on you! Thank you, and we to look forward to seeing you soon! (Yep, there we were at Duke's again! Think we "need" a piece of that pie to pass around on the 28th? :)
Dearest Louise, the joy in your face and Ken's tells it all, and I am so glad to see you two so happy together! You are indeed a very special couple, and it is so reassuring to see you have such an incredible and long lasting marriage. I am very happy to be in your circle, and you have brought so many of us together. Love you and wish you an eternity together! :-)))))
You look so wonderfully happy together. Having followed you for over 4 years I know how important Ken and your family are to you. Glad to see you back out and about again and sharing the good life together. Congratulations and thank you for being such a friend to us here!
It all sounds perfect Louise, and trust me, no laughing here when it comes to the necessity of napping. It is an important part of a weekend to stay refreshed and energized. Happy Anniversary to the two of you. Nothing can come close to that kind of bond.
What a great photo of the two of you... You look as happy as newly weds! Louise and Ken, congratulations!! A long lasting marriage seems to be a fading "tradition" at times. It's nice when you find a couple who have a lasting love. John and I are SO GLAD Linda "introduced" us when we were heading to Nova Scotia in '10 That was the start of what we have considered a wonderful friendship with the two of you. (You two, I think, are the main reason John enjoys going on our photo meet ups as much as he does. We are sorry we'll miss it on the 28th. ) We are both so grateful for your friendship. Have a wonderful summer in NS... See you when you get back.....
it is always a delight and a pleasure to know an enduring relationship and i'm so glad that you, unsurprisingly, are one of those. yours is so rare these days and you well serve a good example to the young couples today. congratulations and happy anniversary.
ever since i saw this post this morning, the song "i found my love today" by samantha leigh came to mind and it's been playing in my head. i don't know if you know the song or if it was ever popular here but i thought it fit you. now can i please have a piece of that delicious looking cake? :-)
Congratulations to every day of it. ( I`ve stop counting ours. or I start with ours first meet, 09 -12- 1962 on 12.15 hours ) . We take a glass and have a drink on it. Great pic. of you both , thanks for sharing you happiness. .
@kiwisnapper Thanks, Ashley! Early congratulations to you on *your* upcoming 20th anniversary! How funny that, to celebrate *our* 25th anniversary, we went to NZ for the first time! What a lovely country you call home! Not sure we'll ever get to Fiji, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss New Zealand!
@panthora Osia, what a dear and lovely sentiment... We are so lucky to have *you* in our circle in addition to the rest of our precious group. Love, to me, is all about nurturing and appreciating...in friendship and in marriage. How crazy would I be not to look after this good man...but hard as I try, he's taken care of me far better than I've been able to care for him! We're in it for the long haul with much to be grateful for...
@Cherrill Oh Cherrill, it's been easy to be your friend, and, speaking of anniversaries and the passage of time, I did a double-take to see "more than 4 years"! I think of it as 4, and yet we're half-way on to the next! Well, it's certainly been a pleasure sharing joys and lending support through more difficult times. Unlike much of other social media, I think our friendships grow "day by day" as we come to know one another through our unfolding photo journeys. I wouldn't have had it any other way! And I'm so glad our paths crossed "somewhere around Morocco, I think"!
@fjmom How funny, Carol, that without a photo to go by, I took you for far younger! So you and I were married in '69, and Allison Williams @allie912 was as well...Sept, I believe. Lucky gals, aren't we?!
@chard What can I say but, "Thanks...and we wouldn't deny that for a minute!" (Lately he's probably beginning to wonder what he signed up for all those years ago! We were young then and didn't see "this" coming!)
@jack4john Thank you John, so very much. We take nothing for granted, but appreciate what we've been given. At the end of every day I'm amazed that I was given such a gift as this wonderful man! I'd happily walk this earth another 46 years with Ken! Thanks again!
@kerristephens@lisamccloskey@salza@kelly2 Thank you so much for your kind words! I feel as though each of you came to an anniversary party, and we're left feeling a wonderful bond with this community of friends we've come to know through your stories & photography. You've made us very happy!
@parisouailleurs haha! I thought my parents were "very old" when they celebrated their 25th anniversary! Here we are already at 46 (before another milestone birthday in August...and 60 is long gone...) and we feel so young! Thanks, Helene, for being in our circle of friends here these past 4+ years!
@texastrails Allie, you'll blink and be amazed that you're starting to make plans to celebrate your 50th! I recall when I couple we'd recently met celebrated 10, and I wondered if we'd *ever* be married that long! Suddenly 10 flew by and we were celebrating 25! I can hardly recall the passage of time that brought us here, and if I have one regret, it might be that it seems to be going too fast! Savor the days, and honestly, I think marking them all with photos is one of the most joyous things I've done; what great yearbooks we're amassing!
@aglennc Anita, your words were so endearing, I find myself aching to give you an immense hug! We're fortunate, indeed, that our paths crossed so early on (Thanks, Linda!) ...You and John are the first of the 365 folks to come meet us in NS, and now, how terrific it is to see you as often as we do "just down the road"! I know you've been able to meet lots of far flung members of this community, so I'm glad to be a part of your circle as well! We'll miss you on the 28th, but will reprise a get-together at the dawn of 2016! What wonderful marriages we've been fortunate to have as we travel life's road(s) together :)
@summerfield Well, aren't you the cutest! Funny, I've always known what "A good example" Ken is in everything he does...everyone loves him and (not surprisingly) many close friends call him St Ken ;) That leaves me to wonder if they think I might be riding his coat tails! He does indulge and spoil me... just look at that wedge of fudge-covered ice cream pie sitting in front of me!!! We continue to have fun together, so yes, we're very fortunate. I don't know of that song (OMG! a confession that there's a song with which I'm not familiar! ...and a love song at that!!!) but in a free moment, I'll youtube it! ...I've been blessed by your friendship as I'd been admiring your photography and writing for some time. So, we'll see you this summer? Book in!
@kwiksilver@rosiekerr@joemuli@danette You all are so sweet to leave me us those lovely notes! Rosie, we're hoping to "continue that journey" for those "many more" Gillian wished us! Danette, we have a darling daughter to thank for taking our photo, and jdM, double ((((hugs))) received and appreciated! ♥ to all of you!
@pyrrhula Oh, my dear friend, Ferry... What a momentous occasion that must have been when you and Ina met! How endearing it is that you celebrate on that day! Ken and I recall exactly when we met, but neither of us remembers the exact date, though the time was 7 AM! Speaking for myself, I remember taking notice pretty quickly and was quite taken with him, but I never, at that time, dreamed it would come to this, all these years later! I'll leave it to Ken to describe his own impressions along the way ;)
@jocee How happy you've made me to see you here among our friends, Joce! I've missed you and your wonderful photographs! We'll do our best to stay happy together...it's not been difficult to do so! Thanks!
@joysfocus Oh Joy, I'm so glad you came by, too! What a wonderful moment it was when you came up to Ken, Ron and me at Capistrano and introduced yourself! You're a pure joy to know (and a delight as well ;) and I love the bonds of friendship our circle as formed! Come visit us "here, there or anywhere" ... and "I'll keep a light on for you"... what a sweetheart you are! Thanks so much for making me always smile ♥
@colorfade ♥♥♥! :D Thank you my dear old friend!!! How lovely to have you drop in! Your little one hasn't left for college yet, has she?! Time goes by so fast, it'll happen all too soon! (Sounds cliche until you find you're living it!) Well, lovely to see you again! What a special moment! Thanks!
@Weezilou I had typed a lot more louise but just realised its not showing up :( My 3 year old is sitting on my lap asking me what buttons she has to press so im thinking something went wrong..lol..
what I was meaning to say was - how lucky your family are to have such a loving and strong union in you both to look up to ... I also said "can we talk about how amazing that dessert looks"..haha
Little one hasnt quite left for college yet but I can see how quickly the moments are flying by...
Happy Anniversary to the two of you! Through your pictures, you've shared with us what a happy couple looks like. The joy on your faces tells the tale of this love story.
Congratulations to you both! You still look like newlyweds. Yes, 1969 was a very good year for long-lasting marriages. Meg's in-laws were also married that year. Wishing you all the best as you look forward to 48, 49 and 50!
Bless your heart. What lovely words. You seem to have a perfect knack for them. Almost 55 years for us.... also seems (a lot of the time -- lol) as if it were yesterday. We'll think of you all on the 28th. Enjoy!! And then have a great summer in our northern neighbors God's country!!
@merteskid@kathyboyles Thank you both so much! (And Jo, I keep checking for updates, but glad you're still stopping by to look in!) Kathy, thanks so much for the fave...all we did was *smile*!
46 years ... wow! Obviously you met at 15 and married at 16 - there's no other way for you both to look this good. Lovely happy photo and what a great slice of cake!
Happy Anniversary to such a Beautiful special couple, 46 years is something to celebrate that`s for sure! I LOVE this happy photo. How wonderful to see you have such a blessed and long lasting marriage! We are both so thankful to consider you our friends. We are the ones whose life is richer because of you. Wishing you a lifetime more of Happy Anniversaries!
@dailypix (♥♥♥) I've considered you a good friend to me from those first days we "met", and you know I feel it's as sincere as the best friendships...we just have't stood in the same room yet! You and Michael will suddenly find yourself here someday...and it will seem like only yesterday that you first met. May the four of us and the ones we love all be so fortunate to have someone special with us to walk Life's road. Thank you so much for the loving anniversary message :)
@kwind It didn't escape my notice when you wrote about how fortunate you were as well! With the best of companions, joys are doubled and troubles can be split in two...
Happy Anniversary Louise & Ken. How wonderful to be blessed with still being together after 46 years. The years just fly by as you say.
What a lovely photo of you two. Your dessert looks great too.
@loey5150 What a treat to see you again Lois! Thanks for the kind words, and I know you and Bernie are just about there with us! And that dessert... Yes it was all that!!!
Love this photo and sweet words. Congrats to you and yours! I stopped because I recognized the Hula Pie and plate. YUM! I have been up late at night and browsing through 365! Haha!
