The Farmer's Market was a mob-scene this morning; it's wonderful to see it thriving! Came home, got a fresh cup of coffee and walked up to see Billy & David as they only arrived home from their 2-month holiday a week ago. Three hours later we were beginning to get caught up (and Billy gets amazing architecture photos that I loved looking at; they were in Italy the whole time!) Another friend wanted Ken and me to be together when he came by, so I was back by 3. He had a little gift for us with a note that said, "Surprise!" I'm not supposed to mention the surprise for awhile but we were delighted to be amongst the chosen few to be told. (See how good I am at keeping a secret? ;)
I finally sat down to upload photos from the last three days that included a fabulous Kitchen Party last night with a nice-sized turnout. (I made baggies of my meringues to be handed to people as they came in. It was so well received, Ken and I made pralines this afternoon to take Saturday night as the featured singer is from New Orleans...where I was born).
Suddenly it was nightfall and my few photos from the market were not a concerted effort as I saw a number of friends to chat with. And so I stepped out for this God-given gift, put a Ps-bow on it, and here's the end of a well-spent day!
Now to go ferret out my favourites from 3 hours of video last night!
@photographycrazy The easiest candy to make...ever! 20 minutes and bazillion sugar calories with pecans mixed through! What's not to love! Did you hear I'm trying to entice people to come to the Kitchen Parties? See you there?
@mozette Thanks, Lynda! Don't you love those bright buildings? There's one more, hidden in this photo that's Chartreuse and it's called "Cilantro" kitchen and bake-ware shop. Some people think the colours are too bright, but I love them!
@hbdaly High praise, Holly! Thanks! I noticed the tree that was taken down by the city has come ned growth on the stump and I'm thinking I ought to make a midnight raid with pruning sheers so I won't lose my puzzle-possibility view!
@danette Thanks, Danette! Funny how I photograph somethings "seven ways from Sunday" in the hope of getting something that works, and then (probably because of The GIft, right?) I step out, say, "Yep, that'll do just fine!", play with it...because I can seldom leave well-enough alone!...and all you nice people come along and say kind things ♥ Thanks for that!
Louise this is just so beautiful! I love the scene and composition...the light in the sky and reflection of it on the water are amazing. This would be so lovely framed and hung in a gallery. A major fav for me.
@radiogirl@jrambo001 Thank you both so much! Lunenburg is "All About Color" from the "Lunenburg Red" buildings along the waterfront, the houses painted one (typically bold) colour with two colours of trim, and those "two of three" ever-so-bold buildings on the main street, owned by one couple. They really tied the bow on this town when they went with lime-green, tangerine and raspberry! They refer to that corner as "UNESCO Fresco"!
@eyesmile Wow Gena, Thanks! I actually joined the Lunenburg Art Gallery this year, and, as a member, I can hang new piece every tree weeks. Your encouraging response might be just the impetus to give this one a go!
To you, Gena, and Nick @nicknac we seem to often get these rosy after-glow clouds-and-sky, so different from the tangerine sunsets back home in southern California! Like you both, we, too, love the lighting up here (and the longer summer evenings!)
Oh Louise this is just beautiful! My first thought was fairytail! The composition and the colours - perfect! I love the sound of your day filled with friends and lots of laughter I am sure! Fav!
As a few others have said itis a fairytale scmene, the colours are wonderful. What a lovely ending to what soundslike a perfectholiday day, friends, chatting, coffee and laughter
@allie912 "View from my front door step looking across town to the golf course on the other side of the harbour"! It's in that white church in the community hall that we go for the Kitchen parties... Love the proximity of music venues around here. As I write, a full afternoon of music (for 3 days running) is wafting through my window from the bandstand just to the right of the tree in the photo.
Oh, my God, Louise, I get exhausted just reading about how absolutely abundant your day was, and just when I think mine is tiring!! So glad you are having such full days full of joy and good friends to share them with! I so wish I could come visit you out there, but if it doesn't happen this year I am definitely putting it on my calendar for the next one!
@panthora I do believe I'll use a *pen* to pencil you in! I fully understand how a photo safari in Africa could easily trump the fishing village of Lunenburg, but you would LOVE it here! Do we need "Our Special Group" summer convention?!
