Daughter, Heather, and grandson, Bodhi, spent 7 hours at the zoo with us today...a beautiful day and no crowds. Everyone let me take my time and I had wonderful success getting the sort of photos that only time allows for. I haven't yet looked through a third of them, but decided to go with this as we're now having a crashing thunderstorm and who knows if the electricity will stay on!
A beautiful day and a stormy night...I LOVE weather's extremes!
Really, really cool!! Love the lines and how your eyes have to adjust to them and decide where some end and others start!! Like an awesome abstract!! Instant FAV!
This is a wonderful shot, Louise, and what a great day you had with your daughter and grandson. It sounds like everybody was happy! And, this is the kind of shot I aspire to take when out in the wilderness of Africa!! Big FAV!! :-))))
Fabulous image Louise! Love all the lines and his sad eye - perfect composition! Love the zoo and zebras in particular - so many photo opportunities! Fav!
Wonderful zebra shot. you must have had a wonderful day and so kind of the family to let you take the photos you wanted. So hard sometimes when you are with others to stop long enough for good shots. I love thunderstorms too.
@cruiser@lifepause@rosiekerr@lisamccloskey Thank you ladies! I reveled in the time to take some photos at leisure, and one family member or the ohter just came back now and then to let me know where I could find them! You've helped me prove it was all worthwhile!
@parisouailleurs I had to write you personally as I can't photograph a horse to save my life! It must be all about the pattern I could play with! Wish we had more zebras out and about!
@stiggle@brigette@gilbertwood@aglennc Thank you all for the comments and faves that sent this to the PP. This is one of my photos I particularly like, so I was glad to see so many others liked it, too!
@motherjane@trm@mona65@pamknowler As noted, it DOES take some quiet zoo time to get the most from a visit. Thank you all for your support of this gorgeous creature.
@panthora Osia, I don't doubt for a minute you'll come home from the safari with amazing photos! I only wish I could join everyone when Taffy is in town and you might have some pictures to share! Better still, a coffee-table book like Elizabeth has! (On a moni-scale, with well over 1000 photos from the day, Heather suggested I make the little ones a picture book of the animals...a brilliant idea!)
@taffy@beachdog@redy4et Thank you all! I know at least two of you have the best zoos in the world in the neighborhood! A safari is a bucket-list dream, but a zoo is where I'll be practicing until that day!
@joysfocus Thanks Joy! Yes, "everything zebra" is just how I felt about it; no further cropping required! Save me a zoo day next spring; I can think of no nicer place to be!
@flygirl@cashew@dmrams Thank you all so much for adding your support early on! It's so easy to love a zoo and all it contains! Best of all, it gives back in return! And Kathy, thanks for the link! What a lot of goodies there!
@Weezilou Louise, congratulations on TT this week.....this shot was so well deserving! Let's plan a zoo day with @joysfocus and Joe @thirdjoe when you are back in town. I cannot imagine a better way to spend a day, and better people to spend it with!
Fav for sure!
