Those waves would keep me WAY up on the sand. Fabulous shot. Guess all up and down the coast we've been getting massive waves. So beautiful, but....... I'm not going there.
@aglennc Thanks for the notes and for th "Hummingbird Love" Anita! After seeing Joe's photos of the surf, I wanted to get some as well! It was gorgeous, but the lifeguards in their trucks were keeping a high profile. I thought anyone going out in that was "younger & crazier" than I am! In my dy I've been bashed to the ocean floor by smaller waves than that! Not wanting to ever do that again!
@Weezilou Having lived close enough to the ocean all my life that we went often (My parents had a little beach house for much of my younger years), I am not an ocean (or water) enthusiast. Much prefer lounging on the sand and letting everyone else go in the water. John and I spent many Saturdays and/or Sundays at Huntington State Beach when we were teens and going together. On the way home we stopped at Knott's Berry Farm -- you could just wander in free then -- and splurge on cups of Boysenberry juice (25 cents) and wander Ghost Town. (We both grew up in Whittier.)
@aglennc I, on the other hand, have always been a water baby! Though we moved many times, a lot of the places were by the ocean, or in Arizona, with a pool. Reading about Knotts, hasn't THAT changed! Likewise, in Tucson, where we moved when I was in Jr Hi, "Old Tucson: was a movie set, and always interesting to go out with visitors and have a walk around. Now-a-days it's just like Knott's. Did you ever see the day coming when you qualified as a walking historian?!
@Weezilou Interesting thought! No.... I wrote a memoir of my life, including the lives of my parents, grandparents, and beyond, for my kids and gave it to them for Christmas four years ago I couldn't believe how much "history", not just of family, but of events and trends of the times, that I included. For instance: Remember "Kilroy" and why he was "here"? Remember hopscotch and playing jacks or marbles, or the nighttime air raids and sirens of WWII???
