haha! After getting Pam's photo with the nice Mountie in the patrol car, I thought to dip back when I had no time to post on Canada Day this summer. I've heard that this is the most recognized uniform in the world. There is something rather stunning about them when they're looking this good!
They put on their red surge (yes, wool, even on July 1st!) for special events, which I usually manage to capture a few times each 6-month-summer. They'll look like this again on Remembrance Day, upcoming in early November.
@maggiemae Still their full name, Maggiemae! Up here, though, most say "RCMP" or "Mounties". Thank you, I had that "cat swallowed the canary" moment ; )

When I was a young boy there was a movie hero name Sergeant Preston of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Many Saturdays I'd be at the local theater to watch him in action. I loved those bright red jackets and the dark blue trousers. And especially their Smokey the Bear hats. I told my mother I wanted to be a mountie. But she told me if I moved to Canada to be a mountie I'd have to give up my American citizenship. Which many years later I found out was not right. But you look very safe between Canada's finest!
