Since the rains, the winds have picked up bringing desert warmth and pristine air. Ken ran an errand and came home to tell me he wanted to take me out for a ride and to photograph the mountains again. Sitting at home, my photo opportunities have been limited, so I might as well make the most of the beauty of this time of year as a record of what makes life here so pleasant!
The distance and atmosphere made it difficult to get sharp closeups of the trees on the mountains, but when the shirtless bike rider came into view, I knew I had the full story!
Simply fabulous!! What a view - so glad Ken took you out to capture it!! The cyclist with no shirt on tells us how warm it is in contrast to the snowy mountains in the background. A definite Fav!!
@summerfield You're so cute! It certainly is more pleasing to the eye than any commercial image of this "bedroom-community neighbourhood" at my back! Most cards here are of the beach towns (and why not!) but they forget this site and it's a good one!!! And no matter whom I draw, I won't forget your address : ) Ahhh, my cheerleader once again!
@radiogirl Thanks, Kathy! You know how I love life in NS, but January out here, when we have this, well, this is what makes it all worthwhile! (And when the girls were young ...I say on this 42nd birthday of my youngest! ... we'd spend weekends in the mountains so Ken and the girls could ski. I'd hunker down with a book, but always *always* be ready to photograph the squirrels & bluejays on the cabin deck!)
@aglennc Well, that's the Santa Ana River Bed with a turn toward the gate off of Harbor. It was tight, and Ken dropped the car off a steep curb as we were leaving...not a happy camper, but looks like we did no significant damage!
Yep, you're right, the shirtless rider makes for a very appealing picture. Glad you got out and about for some fresh air. You'd be sufferering cabin fever.
@lynnz Thanks, Lynn. I thought it was really sweet of Ken to want to be sure I got to see this! It's been an excellent January, weather-wise on all accounts! If you wish to see another view, Ron @stray_shooter posted a picture taken at dusk.
Great capture! Probably don't always see snow on those mountains. Michael's Aunt and Uncle are in Dessert Hot Springs and posted some pictures of the mountains they can see too.
@dailypix Hi Susan! (Desert Hot Springs would be a beautiful location to see the snow-covered mountains!) Forgive me that I never wrote back, but you're about to see I've been a bit "indisposed"! Feeling fine...much improved...but now I have so much to catch up on! Tried all along not to lose my pace here on 365 this month! May be time for a phone chat! Send your # again, though I'll see if I saved it!
@Weezilou Thanks for responding. I've been completely out of the loop for a couple months. Maybe now will be better. I sent you a Christmas note. We are in a new place and so have a new number also. Let me know if you need me to resend it.
@Weezilou Ahahahahahah ... I'm laughing! So right, I thought it was a freeway! I thought the central reservation was bizarre, and I SHOULD have noticed the tiny peeps on the freeway!!!!! Not to mention the total lack of traffic! Still giggling. :-)

Quite the contrast Louise!
