Back to the zoo we went again for a few hours with just Dylan this time who led us on his grand tour! He kept instructing me to take pictures of the animals so we could make him a book! Tonight I have no shortage of animal photos!
When he and Ken went to ride the train, I went into the Bird Aviary he'd chosen to pass by. Was my visit just perfect! I was alone and it was late in the afternoon. The ducks and Bleeding Heart pigeon strolled the walkway with me, and this Himalayan Monal Pheasant.walked everywhere so I have every sort of backdrop.
This may not be the best image to show him off, but I wanted a good view of his back and the hour is getting late. Amazingly he's not a peacock, but he's certainly a walking rainbow and he looks like royalty!
Well done for finding the illusive indigo!
My youngest has always been into animals - she now a zookeeper - when she was young we would make books about animals. The only books she read until she was a young adult were animal encyclopedias and books about animals - she has quite the collection :)
@annied Isn't it fun to try to identify where they're headed when they're young? Even more than Dylan, Our grandson who turns 5 next week only wants non-fiction books about animals and has less interest in story books to be read to him! I had the book idea in my head already for a birthday gift for Bodhi...but then again, Dylan's 4th birthday is in April! I should step away from 365 for a few days and get those presents made! But back to your daughter, I think it's awesome and really wonderful that she works at the zoo!
Oh yes it's indigo! Just what I need for tomorrows rainbow image! Lol! What a gorgeous bird with such beautiful colours in his feathers! How wonderful that Dylan loves the animals - that photo book sounds like a brilliant present for him! Fav!
That has to be the most beautiful bird ever. Looks like a cross between a large quail and a peacock. You've more that done him justice. Great photo. I'm definitely faving.
Oh, he is out of this world! A photo book of animals is the very best gift for your sweet boys, what a wonderful idea. This bird's iridescent feathers are just incredible.
@Weezilou yes no story books for her when she was young unless it was about an animal....Chameleons are Cool, Edwina the Emu and Diary of a Wombat come to mind...she aslo loved...and still does... Steve Parrish books....she works every day with a wombat...who spent a night here... and a wallaby who we hand raised
