Another Sunday Morning Brunch and Ashton reminded us we had to get the Hula Pie to celebrate Dylan's upcoming birthday! (The boys nearly polished it off by themselves! ... I'll have to post the photo I took of it! Divine!)
Today a Woody Car Club had brought their cars to put on display and they were simply wonderful! It would be impossible to say one was better than another, so I snagged this one because I liked the way the beach probably still looks much the same (from a distance!) The oldest Woody was from 1929, and to those who might not know, Huntington Beach was the home to the original Beach boys who wrote and sang the surfing music for a generation. Still today, it's known as Surf City.
Great shot Louise! I just realized I actually saw this woody today when I drove by on PCH on my way through Huntington Beach around noon.
Ha Ha. Small world.
@casablanca A "Woody" is typically a station wagon with wooden paneling on the sides; they're no longer made, so are highly collectable. As with all car clubs, the people who've devoted their time to restoring these do like to get together and swap stories and share photos. I'll post a few more for you... At almost 72, I'm of the Beach Boys Generation and early rock'n'roll, so I'm strolling Memory Lane when I look at these! The cars are 100% iconic!
They sound wonderful - I've never heard of them before! I grew up with an iconic car over here - a Morris Minor with wooden panelling on the back. The stalks that fell out of slots in the sides for indicators used to get stuck sometimes and not go back in, so it was my job as a child to lean out of the window and push them back in! Wonderful car, loved it. I'll do a bit of research on your Woodies - they sound so interesting, thanks.
oh Louise I love this image - and the narrative you shared also - this has such a timeless feel about it - just beautiful - I love the Beach Boys - happy, fun and carefree memories!
