When I last had a moment to post a photo, I wrote of how I love everything about the look & feel of "type, "fonts", "letter press", "hand-made artist's books", and here, old printing presses. Throw a beautiful-old cat into the mix, and it's my idea of Heaven! On this day we'd gone sightseeing along the coastline south of St John's, drove into litte Tors cove and came across "Running of the Goat" Print shop. The owner's daughter was there and gave us a full tour, showing us the four, old presses her mother had bought over the years. Ella toured with us, but was only admonished when she stepped onto the type bed...no place for cat hairs!
I left the shop with with a type-set portfolio of quaint family recipes from the area, a beautiful art print of a tuxedo kitty and several cards! Most of all, I left with a desire to return someday!
@radiogirl Hi Kathy, and thanks! Ella must have thought herself to be a tour-guide here as well! That visit was with Pam @pamknowler, and currently Joy @joysfocus is here with us! Today is our first "semi-free" day since she arrived last Wed!
@annied Didn't see you arriving, Annie! Thanks! See my note above...We're having a ball! Can't believe how many activities we've fit in, but they're geared up for summer visitors around here! Im pushing myself to fill in my calendar, as everyday has had so much in it!
I thought "I know that cat"!! LOL!! What a great memory of a wonderful day!! Such an interesting place to find in an Outport in the middle of nowhere!! Amazing!! Sounds like you are having a great time with Joy - look forward to hearing all about it. Fav!
A beautiful cat! That looks like handmade paper stacked beside her, oh my! A book made and printed there would be so incredible! We are back from our road trip and I'm catching up as best I can! No matter how busy I am, I am not as busy as you! Smile. Fav for Copy Cat!
@pamknowler hi Pam all's going fabulously well! I am afraid that poor Joy is totally worn out and will be happy to get back home! She'll have to admit that there wasn't much we didn't do here and it's been an amazing opportunity to show her the best Nova Scotia has to offer!
@pyrrhula oh Ferry, thank you so much for sending me that link! I really love the artwork and though I had never heard of him before I had heard of switters and his artwork. It's heartbreaking to read that his life was cut short when his work was so good and he had more to offer.... We're keeping busy morning till night and I know that we've been able to show Joy a wonderful vacation here in Lunenburg! Maybe someday I'll get all my pictures posted and be caught up!
@louannwarren I'm glad to read your back home safely Lou Ann and I'm sure you had a wonderful holiday! Yes if you like handmade paper and Letterpress printing this was the place to be! I adore that sort of thing and it was a pleasure to be able to buy some of it and then be given some samples to take home with me! All that and a cat to boot... Color Me Happy!!! Must write and send you some pictures of an outing we had this weekend that involved gorgeous chickens and roosters! I leave you tomorrow that over and we'll be in touch with you soon!
@seattlite thank you so much Gloria... I liked this place so much I was quite hopeful my pictures would turn out well:-)
@golftragic I like this sort of place so much that had there been a B&B next door that's where I would have happily settled in!
@littleconnie thanks Connie I've probably said it all already but this is everything that I love including the cat!
@digitalrn they might as well have put out a banner that said, welcome Louise! I can't believe we were so fortunate to find a place like this tucked away in a corner on the southern coast of Newfoundland!
@maggiemae given that we were in Newfoundland the very fact that I found something I enjoy so much was quite unusual and truly unexpected!!!
