...fresh scallops off the boat that came in to the dock overnight!
People start lining up nearly an hour before the doors open punctually at 8 AM. Most of the scallops go to the restaurants and grocery stores, but 500# are set aside for individuals in 5# allotments until they're gone. With so many visitors this summer, Ken asked Pam and me to join him in line so we might bring home more.
The quaint experience of it was worth rising early to see what it's all about!
@louannwarren Can you believe I never thought of the splash of wine?!!! A *must do* when we return! Sounds delicious! (They don't need much as they're so fresh and tasty...no need for anything heavy smothering them!
@louannwarren@Weezilou Oh my they are so wonderful as they are so fresh I have never tasted scallops like it before!! I think the dash of wine might just be a stroke of genius Louise - can we try it out next time I am there with you? LOL!! Yes you know I will return!! What's that about the bad penny? LOL!!
@pyrrhula Oh, you and Ken! Surprisingly, he doesn't seem to mind this, but you couldn't pay him to go to Disneyland with the lines and crowds! (By comparison, this is *nothing*!) In the end, the scallops we're waiting for are so sweet and delicious, we must have them, and it's part of the quaint charm in Lunenburg to buy the scallops fresh off the boat!
