A peek into the beauty of this tranquil region of Canada as winter approaches. Ken and I have stopped here at a family-owned farm market to buy fresh eggs for baking, and I pinch myself that this lifestyle still exists. Inside, the couple sat near a wood-burning stove as she was pulling dried leaves off an herb and piling them into a woven basket. I can't make this stuff up! I want to infuse my entire being with the memory of such moments to see me through the winter months in another world...
Such a magical place Louise! It is certainly a lifestyle I would love to live! At least you are lucky enough to be able to enjoy it for 6 months of the year! I remember the gorgeous bread from Sunnybrook farm! Fav!
Been thinking of you wile reading about the terrible fires in California. How are you and yours concerning all that? Love how you conjure up the old world charm in your narrative here.
@elkereturns We're actually leaving on Christmas eve but this is far later than we usually stay...and we're loving it! I can't even begin to write of the extreme comparisons to life back in CA! We're in our Heart Home for now...
@francoise Living south of LA requires serious freeway driving! Here, nothing is more than minutes away and we can often walk! This doesn't strike me so much as "country life" but living with "quaintness"!
Lovely photo and story Louise. Lots on the news about fires in California. Sounds very bad indeed, do hope you’re not affected. Even here in central Myanmar CNN is in the TV
@louannwarren I put a print of this picture on a card for Karen when we went to buy eggs and home made bread this morning...she loved it and set it on the front counter. It's hard to start saying good-bye...
It sounds divine, Louise! You may need to change the time frame next year to include Christmas and maybe even New Years in Nova Scotia. I wouldn't want to leave either...so wonderful a lifestyle and charming!
@gardenfolk We actually wanted to stay and have the family come up. However, Heather manages Crate & Barrel's children's division, Land of Nod, and can't leave retail at this time of year...understandably... That's when it was decided we'd arrive on Christmas Eve when she'll have a couple days to spend with us, and maybe another in the week. We look forward to being with the kids, too, of course!
@Weezilou What fun it would have been for them to be in Nova Scotia for Christmas though... the snow and festive change. Maybe one day...what a treat that will be. You should work part time for the Chamber of Commerce. :)
@gardenfolk To think we thought we'd be *way off the grid* when we moved up here! I guess I sell it pretty well because every close friend has been to visit us as well as many people I've come to know only through 365! And then there are the "friends of friends"... and our family considers it *home* : )
