As I have trouble enough walking on flat surfaces before noon-and-3-cups-of-coffee, I handed Ken the camera when Ashley wanted to take him up a hiking trail into the mountains. From where I was below, the fog seemed to come and go, but 2.5 miles up, this was the view Ken had. He brought back over 100 photos that were very telling as a story of what had happened. Once again, however, there was beauty in the perspective, and green shoots poking through, only two months later.
Time, Patience and Attitude will see it become beautiful again day by day.
This is beautiful. I’m so glad Ken could see the land that was devastated so very recently. Oh my, what a journey. I’m always amazed after forest fires at how quickly tiny trees start growing. How incredible that after mud slides there would be little green shoots.
Great shot, Ken! Always a delight to be above the fog and clouds. Nature will regenerate, it always does. I remember in Australia how the bush fires actually cause growth to occur and new things to spring up. But, of course, as humans we find pain and poignancy in the changes and that is only natural.
Well done Ken! A wonderful image which gives us a feeling of hope as you see the tiny new growth! Just love the layers of cloud below him! How great that he and Ashley could do this hike and bring us back some great photos. Fav!
