This sight today was a totally unexpected one! After a lovely breakfast, we toured the 25 acres of gardens, pared into smaller sections with surrounding hedges and pass-through gates... Pictures? A few... (OK..a LOT!) Then it was Ken's turn to choose an activity & he wanted to visit one of the many wineries in this area. It took a long while to get there because the hillsides are spectacular! On yesterday's photos, Joy commented it's just as lush and green up where she lives (not far from here), and I replied that if I posted a picture SOOC, you'd think I'd overdone the bright green sprinkled with yellow flowers! We sometimes stopped every few yards as we'd pass another hill and there was an open vista with scattered grazing cows! I was so excited to see Morro Bay in the distance, and, while looking for information on the rock, I now understand why the hillsides are peppered with rocks and boulders. I'd guessed glacial activity, but it was once volcanic! The joys of travel and the things you see and learn! Tomorrow, on our return to Ashley's, we'll go to the beach and get a closer view of the rock!
Thank you for the many comments you left yesterday! We've spent the entire days out sight-seeing, so I'm not at the computer. I appreciate the time you've given to me.
@catwhiskers OK Missy... We just crossed paths as Safari Park...and now I'm in your neck of the woods? PB? We're heading back south (very slowly, of course!) tomorrow. What time are you expecting me to drop by for lunch? ; )
@catwhiskers I was wondering when that would have been as I loved seeing your pictures and Phyl's! The pictures of the whales down by the pier were unforgettable as well! Life in the suburbs of OC are far less exciting!
This is such a beautiful landscape Louise and what a fabulous few days you are having seeing such lovely countryside! Reading the comments above I think a trip to this area is called for between Nov- Feb when the whales are around! @catwhiskers photos are so memorable! Booking my flight now! Lol! Fav!
Incredibly beautiful! Helps me to remember the lovely parts of Cali. I used to love country drives in February out in Santiago Canyon and such. This is so wonderful! fav
@catwhiskers We're back in CA by Jan, so I'll make a note of it on the calendar!..........(Must have been very tired last night...see I wrote and forgot to send!) Thanks for the info!
@elkereturns California is incredibly varied, so it delights me that I was able to share something that surprised someone here! Even for us, leaving what we call "The LA Basin", this is a slice of pure heaven! @stownsend@pamknowler@louannwarren@jamibann (Thought you all might like to read that as well...Suzie, you know all about it! Pam, what time am I meeting your plane?)
@joysfocus I'm about to post the closeup... It was another amazing day, photographically and then some! How to decide! But I thought I'd followup and maybe someday I can post some others!
@golftragic Thanks Marnie! It made a difference (with better understanding of the terrain) as we looked at it today! All a part of the Pacific Rim Ring of Fire we hear about!
If I'd known you were here! There were two humpback very close to shore on Tuesday - here in Shell beach! And lots of dolphins but from your pics, you did not get cheated :) So glad you're up in our neck of the woods! Are you heading out this weekend? Can you believe how green we are right now?! Enjoy my friend - I hope you and Ken had lots of good eats in Morro!
While it's not long before we go to NS (late June) we'll be back more than once next year! We loved our visit! We only stopped in MB for the photo and then drove through PB neighborhoods and to the park on the south end...gorgeous! We're now back in Carp & of course love the time with the kids...I think we're coming back up next weekend, too! The ONLY downside of living in OC is getting through the LA traffic!
Love this!! What a great vantage point to Morro Rock.....I love the way it is sandwiched between all that lush greenery, and the rolling hills in the foreground and those fluffy clouds in the distance! One of my favorite places to visit!
@panthora I'm just so delighted to be able to share this with you! I know how you also love visiting up the coast! There isn't a time that we lass Mussel Shoals that I don't think of you! It's just minutes south of Ashley!
