I loved the photography of Eugene Atget whose work Francoise challenged us to duplicate in style, but I was quite unsure of finding any site that mimicked Paris in the early 1900s! Street lamps and curved architectural lines caught my attention at a spot I love to photograph at the old Santa Ana train station from which we left last Thursday. Even taking the train fit that bygone era, so as I added coloration today, I believe my muse was there all along...
How did I not recognize that? My husband used to come to that very station to "court" me back in the day. I guess all I saw were the tracks and him when he arrived! It is so beautiful! fav
@stownsend What a delight to have selected a site that resonated with you to that degree! It's a beautiful old station, and I always hope for a little time to take some pictures!
@mbrutus@danette@seattlite@digitalrn Thanks for all the kind comments! The moment I saw the layout, I knew I wanted to use it for the challenge, and I had just as much fun working on the coloration!
@mbrutus Yes, I noticed...I'd have to go to a mall to find a suitable one, and I typically avoid them! I'll settle for the one picture...after visiting the grandkids and all the sightseeing we did, I'll have no further need for challenges and filler photos!!! Thanks for the thought! I do love the man's photography and images!
@Weezilou My daughters once had a fairly cocky teenage friend over the house who pronounce that he did not feel that photography was truly art. I took him over to my Atget book. Opened it to a single page and five minutes of discussing that photo later, he had completely changed his mind.
