Found some old letters I'd bought absolute ages ago on eBay. My original notion was nothing like this final piece! I liked the words, but then spent several hours looking through old albums for some appropriate photo. Added some recently photographed flowers in my yard so the image would be my own...
(Of all my purchased photo albums, this is my favorite. Her name is Zoe and this was in the mid-1920s. She traveled extensively and had a fabulous wardrobe! I keep the album intact, but only scan photos from it...)
@annied It struck me that you couldn't have said anything nicer, Annie! From my college days I always wished I could develop a signature look to my work, so if you say so, I couldn't be happier ♥ ; )
@ethelperry Thanks, Ethel! Photographically, this was my favourite era! Those who had cameras seem to have used them carefully, and the albums mostly had some name record-keeping in them. She's a young flapper who often sported a curl in the center of her forehead, and as I said, her clothes & shoes were marvelous! She's often in the company of men and she records travels by ship and a visit to Puerto Rico! You'd love this album, too!
My Mum and Dad were married in 1929, so they had photos of this era. Dad even played 'cello in the orchestra pit for silent movies. I discussed a lot of this with him but it hasn't been written down. Oral history.
@ethelperry Oh how wonderful! Thank you for sharing that! This certainly was the era of their teens then! So many changes taking place; must have been shocking for parents of the era! All so tame now, by comparison, but from my perspective, it must have been a lot of fun!
@jamibann Awww, thanks so much, Issi : ) I love that we cross paths as my day closes and your new one is underway! Your kind words and those from just above send me off with a smile and looking forward to another fresh start tomorrow! ♥
This is so beautiful Louise and as I scrolled down I too knew it was yours. Such beautiful processing and the words and photo are perfect!! You definitely have a style all your own and I love it!! Fav!
@elkereturns@louannwarren Thank ya'll! It feels so good to get out the old albums again...I adore the imagery! @homeschoolmom I never could understand how these got out of the families, but perhaps there were no heirs, and not everyone is sentimental...or they move and can't take it all... As an artist, I use bits in my work, but I always scan and keep the albums intact...though I don't know who'll want them when I'm gone! (One of my daughters is a wonderful mixed media artist...tho she doesn't really have the room for it all, I can see her taking them! ...the other daughter would resell them on eBay for the cash!!!)
@elkereturns@louannwarren@homeschoolmom As I reread that, I had a chuckle... I have a friend whose loves to say, "There are no luggage racks on a hearse." Might as well use it, enjoy it, and move it along!
@pyrrhula This, Ferry, is a good example of the sort of collage grouping I like to make with parts of photos and writing... I used to put all the parts together on paper and using crayons and pens to decorate. My daughter took several of my pieces and has them in her home. Layering photographs is so much easier! Thanks for your nice words : )
Hope you health is improving and cure is comming you way.
