Magical! by Weezilou

Magical!

Seeing the babies were still there, I got my new long lens I took on the trip. When I saw the pictures weren't as crisp as I'd have liked, I put Matt's instructions into effect, got out the tripod, went to the bit of extra effort, and what a reward!

I have to share that those bright little eyes are rimmed with eyelash-feathers, and when they blink (fairly often) I can see them on the lid! I was as quiet as I could be, but I know they were watching, so I'm so pleased they didn't start and fly off until it's the right time!

I'll continue to check each day until they're gone because this has been such a wonderful opportunity in a relatively easy location to access! Thanks again for your comments and I'll make it up to everyone when I'm better settled in Lunenburg!
A crystal clear image. They are wonderful.

@louannwarren @judithdeacon @elkereturns Thank you, sweet friends! I don't typically post series, but they seem especially worth it! (And I've learned so much across 3 photos how to improve the image!)

Superb shot and clarity

Wonderful treat to see them like this - how many people have seen hummingbirds in their nest! And good for the extreme focus! fav

@kwind @pamknowler @seattlite @maggiemae Thank you all for enjoying them with me! Maggiemae, we have found the nests most years, but not all are easy to photograph (they they tend to build them just above my face level!) This is probably their Graduation portrait!

Precious new life! I hope you have a hummingbird feeder and they stick around until you return again! Fav.

@gardenfolk Thanks, Cathee...yes, pretty sweet! We hung feeders when we moved here 45 years ago!!! We've always had the hummers around...love them!
@golftragic Until I went on this photo trip I thought I could do a pretty good job hand holding the camera...and haven't I learned a thing or two!
@kchuk Elyse, you're always so enthusiastic...thanks so much! I'd loe to hang around out there and watch them, but I thought best to get the shots and leave as quickly as possible...

Matt clearly was a useful teacher -- this is a wonderful capture and worth that extra effort. Thanks for the offer to talk today -- I was out and about by then, and figured it was too late when I checked email. Another time!

@Weezilou Oh wow! Such as??
June 21st, 2018
@golftragic It wasn't that I hadn't heard before to use a tripod for the likes of this in a dark canopy... I'm better with hand's on classes. Also got a lot of instruction in LR while I used very little before this... Still SO MUCH to learn and apply!

@sailingmusic Thanks, Myrna! We only arrived this past weekend and it's been relatively cool! Everyone said we'd missed nothing by coming up late...lots of cool weather and rain! I'd be happy if it remained no more than in the 80s...saying that because up here, it comes with some humidity! However, all I have to do is recall that Costa Rica fairly defined the word, "Sweltering" and it should cool me right down for remembering!
