We waved good-bye to the folks who were going to have some child-free time, and Ken and I took the boys to the Oaklawn Zoo in Aylesford (Nova Scotia). This is unlike any other zoo we've visited as it once was private, and the family home is on the grounds of the zoo! It's wonderful to engage some of the animals like this pen of llamas! It wasn't crowded today and we went through much of it several times, waiting for the big cats to wake up from their siestas! After a full day, the boys were fading by 4, an hour before the owner steps into the cage with the lions to hand feed them! I was so primed for those photos, but I got a lot of nice ones and the boys had been so good! Back home, Ashton pronounced it "The Best Day of His Life!" Bodhi said that too, on the day we took him to the zoo, so we hope the grandparent-factor features in there somewhere!
I was left feeling it just might have been one of the best days in my life, too!
Such a wonderful day all round! The boys are going to always treasure these memories of days out with you and Ken! Sounds like a great zoo with lots of photo opportunities especially the lions being fed! How fantastic that Dylan and Bodhi both had the “best day of their life” when spending time with you both! Lucky boys! Fav for this lovely capture!
@joysfocus I remember how much you loved it there, too! I spent a good deal of time walking around by myself and taking pictures, and thought of you around every bend! I do believe this is one of the llamas whose photo you posted! (I almost called when I saw you'd just posted, but Ken was out with the boys and had the cell... Miss you!) ♥
