How to Stage a Frog ... by Weezilou

How to Stage a Frog ...

I've always had a behind-the-scenes interest in what needs to be prepared for a movie or theatre play. This wasn't quite so elaborate, but it was fun to watch what was involved in placing reptiles and amphibians in such a manner as to make them comfortable and perch them to a height that would make them look good in a photograph.

Diego, one of our marvelous guides prepared the staging, and, while the others were still walking around the property, assisted me in the finer points of getting a macro shot.

I haven't yet even come to those photos, but as I find one I like that gives you a sense of what it was like to be there, I'll post one.

Thank you so much for the interest in my Costa Rican photos! Of course there was lovely scenery, but the variety of animals garnered my rapt attention! In days ahead, I'll try to diversify a little!
Ick not a person who wants to hold frogs

Well done

How awesome! Costa Ria is on my list! :-))

Have them in our garden. In the small pool but also between the greens.
Great find and shot.
@Weezilou Nobody say`s farming is easy. But they see this as a part of the job.

Never thought about doing this... Although I never see frogs either 😜

Nicely captured! I wouldn't think it would be easy to convince the frog to cooperate for the shoot!

Great capture! I like the hand positions.

Wow...Cool capture of this little frog :)

Staging a frog seems a little like herding cats.

They must be docile little frogs! The frogs I had in my pond would be off as soon as you approached them yet alone pick them up! I like your image with the hands perfectly placed! Fav!

Interesting behind the scenes.

Interesting behind scenes

What a cute little frog! My son was recently involved in releasing some endangered frogs somewhere in the San Bernadino mountains. It was a SD Zoo project.

@joansmor I respect your feelings! On the other hand, I'm always interested in new&different experiences...and if I don't enjoy it, I won't repeat it! Thanks for your Brave Fave!

@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian...he did the work while I took photos!

@catwhiskers It was an incredible experience! I knew of Matt Kloskowski's photography and ability to teach, so I signed up for his 5-day tour. Worth every penny!

@pyrrhula I think they're awfully cute, and photograph them when I have the opportunity!

@ulla I think to do it by one's self and also try to photograph it would be as Tunia @tunia said... Like herding cats!
@linnypinny From what I observed, they were comfortable when set on something familiar to them. Because it was so hot, Diego kept spritzing the frogs with water, and I imagine they liked that!

@kwind @pamknowler Thank you both...I thought the hands were necessary to telling the story! I have plenty of "Look what I came across in the wild!" pictures of these frogs, but as I said, I think a set-up can be interesting as well!

@seattlite @danette Our guides lived here all their lives and love the wild life...and they're capable whisperers!

@stownsend How wonderful that he had that involvement! When we last went there recently, I read that it remains a secret as to where the condors are released. That came to light (that "it's a secret") when the location was endangered in recent fires. One of those things we might not think about...

@Dawn Thanks, Dawn!

This is so interesting. I wonder if this frog told your little green frog you were cool and to hop on over to see you! 🐸

@louannwarren Haha! "Frog Princess!" Same frog as here https://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2018-06-26 and after that photo I did hold him. There's probably a picture of that in here somewhere, but haven't come to it yet! This CR collection is a formidable challenge!
July 18th, 2018
@louannwarren OK...can't believe I've posted several photos of this same frog already! I keep working on this one little section of my many photos! The picture of me holding this frog is even worse than the one of me with the green frog on my camera! I look like I stepped out of a steam bath! Those will not be seeing the light of day!
July 18th, 2018
@Weezilou Oh cool, I didn't know you went with him! Hopefully he will do more in the future
July 18th, 2018
@Weezilou your CR photo tours were magical, there is no question about it! 🐸💖

@catwhiskers I mentioned his name in case you were familiar with him. He took one group last year, and this year's filled so fast, I was fortunate to get into the second group! He said her could have fil;led two more, so if you're interested, I can very highly recommend this trip! I would LOVE to go again next year (as there was one photographer who went the two years in a row!)

Hope they were cooperative :)
July 18th, 2018
That would have been a fabulous experience :)

@Weezilou. Cute? Not for insects.
Only for young princesses. There can hide a prins in it.

Never would have imagined this. I bet you loved Costa Rica. I never made it there but Guatemala won my heart

I`ve work for Con Agra (Lamb Weston) as a engineer for the last 15 years making French Fries . They`ve 3 fries factories in Holland . I`ve been for this firm in factories in the U.S.A. (Pasco/Tri-cities. W.S. ) The factory I worked made 40 tons = 40.000 Kg. = (88185 Lbr.) of fries every hour. Day and night, 12 day`s out of 14. 3/4 of all fries potato`s grown in Holland are needed. We export them to all over the world. Our country is second best with exporting agricultiral products in the world.
