As per Danette's suggestion @danette , I did a tighter crop on this photo, and I'm posting it to see what other's think. I used the Golden Ratio to crop the larger picture, and I liked the line of the branch passing through. (I wasn't sure I'd like a deeper crop, but I think Danette had a good idea!) I was able to crop this using the Golden Spiral and I now like this a lot.
Be brutal with your assessment either way, as I think this is an interesting learning tool. Thanks for weighing in, Danette! (I always loved classroom critiques!)
@jyokota "Following the eye"...yes, that certainly played in with the extension of the branch. Perhaps each crop has a different way of telling the story...
I love the closeup, better than the other two images. I understand not seeing what he’s looking at, but that’s actually kind of cool, it provides a bit of mystery - “what is he looking at?” I find that I am drawn to closeups so much of the time.
I’m loving the closeup as I can see more detail of the monkey. I do like the third crop as it gives just a bit more of the branch and where he is looking but this would be my favourite.
I've gone back and forth between the second and third. They are both really good. However, I do like this closer crop the best, I think...or on the other hand.....Smile.
