Taking photos daily, I come to realize how cyclical events are in our back yard! I've noted that every year around this time, the Cooper's Hawk swoops in, and creates an explosion of doves and finches as they burst off of the table where they were eating peacefully! I heard the ruckus and the birds in flight when "one large bird" landed atop the bay window in the kitchen and I knew then what happened! I grabbed the camera and got several photos as he awaited the return of a bird or two. He left this yard without dinner...not everyone gets to be a winner every time!
Wonderful capture!! Lovely to see a hawk in your garden - so close. He was popping in for his Christmas dinner - thank goodness he had to go to another restaurant for his meal!!
@luvmynynix Laurie! Hi! Welcome back! New Year's Resolution to stay around, I hope!
@louannwarren OMG, Lou Ann!!! Simply PRICELESS comment!!! 100% correct, and I hope no one else experienced the relations trying to kill on another over the holidays!!!
Great to see hawks in the yard. I can never get close enough to one to take a photo. We have a lot along the highways on the highlines watching the fields for mice.
