With the worst photo possible, here's the update on the hummer babies that left the nest just an hour after I took the picture. When they sit on the edge, I know it's time for them to fly, so I didn't want to disturb them in any way while trying to get a photo. (I suppose I don't need to overstate the obvious!) If you're not familiar with by baby photos from years past, those black spots on the leaves are evidence of their bathroom capabilities. They raise up so they don't make a mess in their nest...clever birds!
This nest was so tiny, I was concerned they wouldn't both live to maturity, and while they're smaller-than-small, I've seen them darting through the yard, now full of a smorgasbord of flowers!
Thank you all for staying in touch! We've been traveling the central coast, which is beautiful again, and now preparing to leave for Nova Scotia in a few weeks. I may not spend time writing much, but wanted to check in with those of you who've been so kind as to ask how I'm doing!
Great to hear the babies have both fledged safely! They must be so tiny! Good to see you popping in Louise between your travels! So many exciting things planned for this year! I know I am excited! 😂😂😂
Hello Louise! (And Ken...) It's nice to see you're still in the neighborhood. Thanks for a little peek into this little world. I hope you have a wonderful summer in Lunenburg.
@radiogirl Thanks, Kathy! LOVING being back home! Grandkids & family here, and I'm planning a kitchen party that would include s-i-l John who's a percussionist! Maybe with a picture of that, I'll drop back in to 365! I've no shortage of photos! All's well! Hoping this finds you enjoying the summer months again!
