Being busy with family still visiting, I'm drawing on the many photos I took this winter. These gorgeous poppies grew in many locations along the coast, but these fortunate ones had a home on the grounds of Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. They look so fragile but those petals were almost papery and had more strength than the orange ones we see more typically.
