We had an amazing morning with friends who've been expanding their back acres into a vineyard, and summer garden as well as raising guinea hens and chickens! For breakfast they served a sausage & kale tart, garden salad, cheese & baguette and the most beautifully presented & delicious fruit tarts in a rustic crust! They loaded us up with cheeses, tarts and fresh eggs to take home! I gathered some feathers in the hope of staging an arrangement to show how cute the little pear-shaped guinea hen eggs are, but this didn't translate well.
I'm thinking they may make awfully cute little deviled eggs!
(I almost forgot to mention that they invited us to breakfast when Zahra has to leave this afternoon to fly to London for a few days! She's far-better organized than I am!!!)
I thought you'd dropped off the site -- didn't realize for some reason I was no longer following! I've missed a LOT of your photos! Sounds like your summer is going well and you've not lost your eye for beautiful still life images!
Beautiful still life using those gorgeous guinea fowl feathers! I knew you were with Zahra as soon as I started to read about your breakfast and all the goodies they gave you. When we visited she was popping off later to Boston I think it was to pick up her new dog. When will they be picking grapes for wine?
@joansmor@moviegal1@stevepam@bkbinthecity Thank you for letting me know you'd been by! I need to step up and visit around more as well! @louannwarren Tried to think like a hen as I feathered my nest ; ) And you're right, the breakfast was amazing! @pyrrhula You're so funny, Ferry! I loved everything you said, and so funny when you know in advance that I'm going to lavish my "Thank You" on you!!! (Thank You !) @seattlite Thank you for your message. I wanted to capture the texture of those wonderful feathers! @koalagardens Truth me told, I was told that the dog, a greyhound, had picked up one of the guineas, shook her, but didn't hurt her!!! Hence, there were some feathers for the gathering!!! @salza I was most appreciative of the lovely invitation and never suspected we'd be sent home with groceries as well! (She's even raising *pink* celery...brought home a stalk of that, too! @jamibann Thanks Issi! I seldom slide into b&w, but I thought it would emphasize the texture without the colour... @taffy Leave this site?! Not likely! You know how it is, getting busy now and then! Did you receive the letter about my daughter, Heather and her teacher that Jim knew? (No longer in CA where I have her name on the photo). (Never heard from you OR daughter, Heather! ...might check back to see if I ever sent it!) @pamknowler I KNEW you'd recognize the location of brunch today even before I named names! I couldn't believe she was traveling later today! We're dog-sitting Elvis next week while she's away and Stephan is at work... He was going to pick him up after work at 9 and drop him off each morning...told him to let him stay and be our pet next week!
@Weezilou Definitely saw the photo and talked about it, trying to remember the teacher, and then totally never responded, so that's on us! Thanks for sending it along!
A beautiful b+w pic. Fav. editing and capture.
(You`re welcome)
