Senior Shopping Hour by Weezilou

Senior Shopping Hour

Noting this moment in time...

Fully covered...gloves in his pocket...a quick run to our local grocery for some fresh provisions.

When he asked where the suntan lotions were, he was told that they were out of Aloe Vera Gel... The new Short Speak!

Those reusable bags, built to last 128.5 times are no longer acceptable; must buy new ones! (Wouldn't even take the cloth bags the man behind him had.) Another government mandated bungle...but they successfully ridded us of plastic straws!

We're doing fine...I had a good sleep last night. This is going to be Ken's last shopping trip for the next couple weeks...staying home 100% now.

Lots of flowers...lots of animals...lots of unused photos for "365 emergencies"...rain on the horizon... Lots of email yet to reply to...

Sending love from our Bubble to Yours ♥ ...is it Easter yet?
Good for you Louise and Ken, stay safe and healthy, scary times right now!

@radiogirl Just received an email from my Lunenburg neighbour who winters in Ontario...it's very hard on everyone. Hunker down...Keep safe... I think it's so good that we can keep in touch and check in on one another in this fashion. ♥

does that mean you guys aren't going to NS or at least until this thing is under control?

i could never get to seniors hour. but mostly people are kind and generous giving their space. times like this the kindness often shows but there are still the occasional nasties and the selfish ones.

take care you guys and stay well and healthy. am opening my cache of photos from all my previous travels, too! ❤❤❤

@summerfield We made the decision to do NO traveling this year...first time in 20 years we haven't gone north. We pay the neighbour to look after the house, so sharing a different sort of year with everyone! One BIG reason for us to stay away is that all our medical care is paid for here...none in Canada. That pretty much sums it up! The folks on our cul-de-sac are looking after one another...we have a high level city dept worker and a nurse who oversees all the emergency room at the local hospital. We get updates and face masks...doing well! You stay safe, too!

I went to the grocery store on Thursday...no returns at this time, no reusable bags or paper bags right now or never?...a sign of the time. Now we are suppose to wear masks when out in public. (The banks will not like that)!) We all look like bandits. Be safe, Louise! Virtual hugs to you both!

@gardenfolk I love that the comments are arriving slowly and I can stop and chat with each of you. Has it crossed anyone's minds that "the bad guys" are still out there and...are they actually STAYING quarantined or can they now mingle with impunity and rob stores? It's a topsy-turvy world! Thanks, Cathy...sending loving thoughts and virtual hugs as well!

@Weezilou One chain of grocery store we have here (Raleys and Bel Air Markets) have hired the sheriff dept to post a deputy sheriff and vehicle outside at the front of all their stores! I was surprised the first day I saw this at the end of the 3rd week of March. Are people getting in scuffles over toilet paper and paper towels that warrant an armed sheriff?!? CRAZY! Something must have happened. Either people are overly nice and respectful or completely the opposite...rude and angry! Another sign of the time...calm and patient or fearful and hoarding.

@Weezilou PS...and YES, the bad guys are still out there but my son cannot enter homes without a hazmat suit, arrest people for misdemeanors, no search seizures at the moment and some prisoners were released early. His hands are basically tied unless a danger to society. Surprisingly, I am not aware of any businesses being broken into (like during a blackout) because they know many businesses are vacant at this time. I am not opening the door to any masked people any time soon! Take good care! Love to you.

@gardenfolk I knew you'd have some further information! Just, "WOW!" Please pass the message to him that people certainly appreciate the dedication to duty , and our hearts go out to them at this restricted time! And Yes..."NO! Not opening the door to anyone but an immediate neighbor!" (I look through the window first!)

Gladly Ina had alway`s plenty in store. She loves to have it at home as she needs it, so no much shopping for us. And we have a freezer. We have not a complete lock down only the advise to stay home or keep a distance to each other of at least 5 feet. Driving in the country isn`t a big problem for me. I did alway`s go to the opposite part of most did. Stay save and healthy. Take care

Who’d have ever imagined such a site? Be safe!

We're still allowed to use our own bags, but have to both unload the trolley and pack your own bag/s - simultaneously! Quite a juggling act, let me tell you. I've certainly cut down/out almost all of my shopping trips unless really, really necessary as well as 'allowed'.

Hello there Louise &Ken. It's great to hear you are both well. We are in lockdown over here & can only go out for necessities. No more than 2 people together at any time. Anyone 65 & over has been advised to stay home. The big grocery stores are only allowing a certain number of people in at any one time & for only 30 mins. We will all come through this - but we have a hard road ahead - love to all. stay safe.

That sounds like a good plan Louise, stay safe!

That does sound like the right decision to stay put for sure. Even when the lockdowns are lifted, I won't be travelling far for a while and certainly not abroad. I think it will be this time next year before I go for that one.
I have to brave grocery shopping now and then for us and for my parents. It feels quite scary being out there where lots of people are, especially as some just won't do the distancing measures required. But we have food for another few days, so I can stay put for a bit!

Good news that Ken will be staying put for the next coupe of weeks. It really is quite scary when you venture out - I am only popping out to the little store in the village when we need milk or bread. Barb has been staying home the whole time. We have plenty of food to keep us going for a while so will put off as long as possible before venturing out to a bigger supermarket. At least the Co-op I found in the small town of Kilkhampton is much smaller than the huge Tescos and Asdas so not as many people trying to use them. Scary times ahead and we must all follow the rules about staying home unless it is essential we go out. Two weeks down for us since vacating our house and a long time ahead - if only I had brought all my crafting bits and pieces!!

It took my son and Jerry’s son to finally convince Jerry he cannot go in stores, no matter how he covers up and washes up afterward. With his past bronchitis issues and his recent pneumonia his lungs simply would not survive the virus. We have the black masks I found on Etsy and we just received Jerry’s KN95 masks so we are set on masks if we have to be out in public. We ordered our groceries Saturday morning and will do curbside pickup Tuesday at 2:00 PM, the first opening they had! I’m so sorry to read that you cannot go to Lunenburg but I so understand your reasoning. Health care is more important this year than ever I do believe. We keep watching the weather channel so we can walk between rain showers! So here we all are, so thankful for social media right now. We did a house party through our iPads with neighbors last night. That was fun!
