"Mum" ... Ashton & Dylan's Great Great Grandmother

I start looking at the old photos and, since I've yet to leave the condo, I thought I'd draw out one more! I mentioned that one grandmother came by ship on the Matson Line. This grandmother, my mother's mother, came out for 3 months each year and lived with us. I remember going to the airport and she'd fly over. (We took a plane once and it was a Pan Am Clipper Ship that actually had bunk beds!)

I'm posting this because it's got a funny story to go with it. You know about "little pitchers having big ears"? I remember hearing my mother say of Mum (who lived all her life in New Orleans and was "quite a 'proper lady' of the age), "I can get her to wear a muumuu, but I can't get her to remove her stockings and girdle!"

My my my how times have changed! You should see the photos I was taking at the beach just two days ago! Mum would just die!
Lovely photo of your grandmother.

This conjures up a scene of decadently bright colours, clashing like symbols! A very elegant looking lady, very proper.

@salza You're sure to be correct! There are no dull colours in Hawaii!

Funny! How long has it been since women wore girdles??? Great story. Got anymore of your "old" photos of your Hawaiian years? These are great!!

@aglennc I was just about to call it a night when I saw your notes. Loved hearing your guinea pig story too! Of course I have more old photos, but not many scanned and with me on this trip. On this "slow" day, I thought it would be fun to add those to my "memory lane" vacation pictures!
