"2015 Tour 365" Makes a Stop in Chicago

365 has become such an integral part of so many of our daily lives, it continues to be a pleasure to meet face-to-face with the friends and mentors we've come to know and appreciate through the recent years! JT was the first as ask for a meet-up, and Taffy saw we were in town, so we all got together in the historic town of Oak Park, outside Chicago, home of one of America's most famous architects, Frank Lloyd Wright. It was a glorious day filled with art, architecture and new bonds of friendship. While we all love to be creative behind the camera, "some" of us prefered not to be in the spotlight.

Based on the numbers of photos Ken and I took, I have to wonder how many photos we took between the four of us! They'll ALL be quite spectacular, you understand...

They'll certainly be photo memories of a delightful day!
Now that's a meet up I would have loved to have joined! You and Taffy @taffy looking good! Can't wait to see some if your fantastic pics from the day!

@pamknowler Pam, that would have been wonderful if you could have been with us! I recall Taffy mentioned people she's met along the way...did you two meet? Seeing all the FLW-designed homes would have been treat enough, but we also visited the gallery where JT's work is being shown and everything was ofl of exceptionally good quality. We allowed for time to visit and to get to know one another better and it couldn't have been one bit better! Taffy & I were talking about the possibility of a Lunenburg meet-up...we're getting closer, Pam!

@Weezilou @pamknowler Wouldn't such a meetup be fun!! Louise, I love these shots -- such fun captures and nice of Ken to be willing to hang out with us to get the shots. I had hoped to be in London in November, but I don't think it's going to work out...someday Pam will be in the States -- she's got to hang out with all her friends here!
September 17th, 2015
@taffy Glad you like them! Of all the photos I took (read: A LOT!) I have very few verticals to select from! FLW would have been pleased that I captured all those delicious horizontal lines as he meant them to be!
September 17th, 2015
@Weezilou @taffy You do know that I was there with you all in spirit, right?! This sounds like a fabulous meetup, the best people, perfect location, wonderful weather, and of course, FLW's architecture, and an art exhibit! I am hoping there will be many, many more photos from this day!
September 17th, 2015
@taffy @Weezilou I will get there one day Taffy! Now where would be the best place to visit? What a lovely idea to be able to have a meet up with some of my favourite 365 people!
September 17th, 2015
@pamknowler @Weezilou Pam, need you ask???? CHICAGO!!
September 17th, 2015
@taffy when is the best time of year weather wise? I can't handle too hot!
September 17th, 2015
Fall or spring. Winter is totally unpredictable, and March can still be yucky. Late april and into the first few weeks of May is gorgeous, and summer is a lot of fun here but hard to predict the heat. @pamknowler
September 17th, 2015
@taffy @pamknowler By now I suppose you've found the note I left on Junko's site! Let's make this happen someday!
September 17th, 2015
@panthora How abot I upload everything to Shutterfly and I can send them to you easily (as well as several other friends who'll want to see them!) Are you following the comments about a Chicago meet-up with Pam @pamknowler one day?
September 17th, 2015
@panthora Heather and I are still sitting up at our computers...not only a night owl myself, I seem to have given birth to one as well! Tomorrow we're taking Bodhi to the zoo and the conservatory on the grounds...photos photos photos! Mayhaps I ought to *try* to get some sleep! ♥
September 17th, 2015
@Weezilou Louise, just go to sleep already....you are worse than I am....and, I love you for it!! ;-)))) Yes, I am absolutely, definitely following the conversation about a Chicago meetup. @taffy and I have been talking about my going back there one of these days as I have not been back since my graduate school days. I am planning on visiting my mom in Greece in the spring (hopefully around Greek Easter), but maybe I could have a detour through Chicago....hmmm.. oh, and yes, Shutterfly would work out great!!
September 17th, 2015
@taffy @Weezilou @panthora I wonder if I can make this happen? My birthday is in May - a birthday present to myself may be? I would probably come on my own as my sister really doesn't want to fly again! Watch this space!
September 17th, 2015
What a fantastic idea! Think we need a meet up in Oz :)
September 17th, 2015
@gilbertwood I would love a meet up in Brisbane/Sydney - gosh what a wonderful idea!!
September 17th, 2015
might have been such a fab moment. I visited it few years ago, wonderful houses there!
September 17th, 2015
@pamknowler Would be great but we're a big country! I'm way down south 3 hours west of Melbourne!!! However I would try to fly to Brisbane/Sydney :)
September 17th, 2015
@gilbertwood I forgot how huge Australia is!!
September 17th, 2015
@pamknowler Yes. England fits into my little state of Victoria :)
September 17th, 2015
Looks like you are having a great time Louise & how nice to meet up with fellow 365'ers. :)
September 17th, 2015
@pamknowler @panthora @Weezilou I would love to help make the visit worthy!!! Great fun to be had with lots of photo ops.
September 17th, 2015
Jealous! But then again, I'll see you @taffy soon!!! What are those "walkie talkie" looking things around your necks? @weezilou you look great as usual! And I love Oak Park. Mike and I stayed at a nice old hotel there when we drove around the country on a long car trip with our girls. I wish they were older to remember the whole thing!
September 17th, 2015
How wonderful to be able to meet up with fellow 365ers and go out photo shooting together.
September 17th, 2015
I have now got so many places and people I need to visit when (if) I make it back to the States that I would probably need to spend at least 6 weeks there! How fabulous that you were able to have a 365 meet up.
September 17th, 2015
Sounds like a great day. Great , lovely pic.`s of the meeting .
September 17th, 2015
Awesome... Isn't 365 the greatest?!
September 17th, 2015
Meet ups are so much fun. Nice collage
September 17th, 2015
@darylo I was envious when Taffy said you two were meeting up soon! I marvel at how many gatherings are taking place! Those things around our necks are the recorded information about the homes we'll be seeing on our walking tour. I really enjoyed it all, but toward the end I wanted photos more than information (and the last house was VERY ornate!) Don't you love it when you see photos with which you can relate?! Glad you had time to enjoy it for yourself in the past!
September 18th, 2015
How wonderful for you all to get to meet up like that. We had a day a few months ago in Brisbane, and it is great to put faces to names and new friends.
September 18th, 2015
What a memorably fun meetup it must have been! Too bad I'm away right now. I see the audio tour things but not the photographer's pass I had to wear to take photos! Fun collage for sure.
September 18th, 2015
What fun. Would love to do a meet up. I did one last year but we didn't have time for photos - or many. But a native can take you to see places you would not find on your own.
September 18th, 2015
If you ever get a urge to see Maine let me know.
September 18th, 2015
Oh What a nice collage of 365's doing what they love!
So wonderful that you were able to get together Louise, I guess your not in Nova Scotia right now!
September 19th, 2015
Wonderful pics! Great to see folks together!
September 19th, 2015
@Weezilou Louise we have been copying you in on the emails about my trip to Chicago next May. Can you give me your email address just to check we have the correct one.
September 22nd, 2015
Thrilling to see you together! Mount Rushmore of sort of 365 for me. Thanks!!
September 25th, 2015
Wonderful to see you meeting up , Ken did well to take these photographs
September 25th, 2015
@pamknowler @taffy ...and so it began!

Quite a story, wasn't it?!!!
May 28th, 2016
Love that you tagged us on this. It's fun to see this thread and the start of what ended up being such a terrific week. What a contrast -- am sitting now in a half emptied house, in Jim's study as mine no longer has anything in it! They've gotten out most of the major large furniture, packed up the kitchen and all the artwork, but left us our bedroom and master bath, and silverware and cleaning supplies, so we're functioning here til closing in 4 days.
@pamknowler
May 28th, 2016
@Weezilou @taffy oh isn't it wonderful to read how it all started! What fun!! I was so excited when we first started talking about the trip and not really sure it would actually happen. I am blown away by how successful it was - so much due to all your hard work Taffy! I can never thank you enough! Meeting both you Taffy and you Louise was such a highlight for me !
Taffy I have been thinking about you and Jim and the upheaval you are facing. It must be so difficult for you not knowing how long you will be "homeless" - I just hope it's not too traumatic and that you are able to get in to Skybridge very soon! Big hug!
May 28th, 2016
@pamknowler Many thanks...got a lot done today...heading out for dinner for a rest. It will be behind us soon.
May 29th, 2016
@taffy You've been in my thoughts... Your place seemed to have so little that needed to be packed up. Given that even THAT was a task, I shudder to think what it would take to move out my collection of 40+ years! I hope quiet, feet-up days lie ahead!
May 29th, 2016
@taffy ...as long as this is a good place "to chat", please tell Jim how much Ken liked his milk frother and he bough one for us, LOVES it! He was going to invest in a top-of-the-line espresso maker but now he's happy with what we have and said he saved a bundle by buying just the frother! He says to send thanks to Jim!
May 29th, 2016
@Weezilou I just sent your note along to him. He'll appreciate it and be glad Ken was able to avoid the $ of the expresso maker (though I suspect Jim would say it's worthy of investment!). And yes...packing is never-ending it seems. As we see the stack grow of 'things we'll need if our stuff is in indefinite storage' it's rather overwhelming!
