Cornucopia by Weezilou

Cornucopia

I thought to give Low Key a try here. Seems to work; you tell me!

(no, that is not a banana, but an interestingly-shaped gourd from an uninteresting angle...)
Beautiful fall still life capture. Low key does work and gives it a dutch painting feel.

Very nice for Fall! Great lighting.

Lovely. Agree with Constance, it makes me think of an old Dutch painting with "clair obscur"

Beautiful still life and I like the wise old owl keeping an eye!

looks lovely glowing in the candle light

I like the crooked candle. And I enjoyed going back and forth between the two versions of this scene. Always nice to know someone who likes a nicely set table (with a tablecloth)

Works for me, the lighting is perfect for the subject.

@francoise Thank you Francoise! I like linens and all sorts of dishes, so I do enjoy setting a nice table even for just Ken and me. It becomes a nice place to linger, even after a meal...

@jamibann Thanks for liking my owl, Issi! He was a gift from a friend who stayed with us. It was in an antique store, but is unsigned. To my mind, he's absolutely wonderful, and I often try to sneak him into my pictures!

@parisouailleurs @seattle Having struggled with low key for some time, I was happy, too, that this turned out! That you two think of a Dutch painting, is very high praise! Wow! Thanks!

I can't help but wonder why the owl looks so sad.

Lovely composed shot but if I might say just a little too much light. A low key you should only be able to see the object you are highlighting and not any background. But there are a lot of interpretations so I give you a great big A.
