It's a Grandma Moment by Weezilou

It's a Grandma Moment

This morning, we were invited to join family members to see Aston's school's early grades perform "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". We weren't told what part he'd have, but he let slip to Ken who drove him to school.

Ken came back and said Ashton was playing the part of The Big Bad Wolf! I'm wondering if it's some new revision of the 3 Bears! I realized it was going to be a surprise after all!

It was a cute little musical number that included the line, "Hold on to your socks! Here come Goldilocks!" which Ashley and I kept singing for the rest of the day! The Bears story had vignettes of Red Riding Hood and The 3 little pigs...which is where Ashton came in!

It all seemed a nice "no pressure" fun time for the children and a good way to get their feet wet as it was likely a first thespian event for most.

I let Ashton pick the photo, and while I wanted to take it to black and white, Ashton said no...
Definitely a grandma moment and fun for all the kids too! I agree with Ashton...I like this color! :)

@gardenfolk Thanks, Cathee. Only another grandmother could appreciate a photo like this... just a must-have for my memory file! You can see they didn't stress out over costuming!

I think he was right in this case. I can't imagine the picture being any cuter than it already is. And I like the muted color pallete.

@mbrutus You are so sweet to write anything at all! Thank you! My photos swing widely from ones I offer up to please my friends, and some that are family-photo moments. The kids really were cute, and the songs were a delight. Thanks for coming by!

Oh what a delight this must have been! Look at all those sweet faces! Thank you for sharing your grandma moment! Great choice of colour Ashton! Fav for his cute face!

A mixture of fairy tales but you have to know the originals to appreciate it! They are all singing so well!
April 27th, 2017
@Weezilou LOL! Yes...the costumes are pretty simple but still adorably sweet and cute too!
April 27th, 2017
What fun and what a great shot for the memory box!
April 27th, 2017
Sounds like a fun time

This is indeed a grandma's treasure! Actually a treasure all around. Those circles some are wearing as after surgery dog collars are priceless!
April 27th, 2017
how sweet they all look. The soft colour is lovely. Its so much more real when they dont make too much fuss about the costumes.
April 27th, 2017
And as a grandmother how can I not fav this sweet treasure?!
April 27th, 2017
@louannwarren It took me a while to figure out what those "circles" were, also! They're "the three little pigs" whose houses Ashton had to blow down! (Poor Ashton's wolf head looks a bit like a bad hair day! but I do love that they kept it simple!)
April 27th, 2017
@Weezilou Oh! That's Ashton in that apron and dog hair! Love love him! The teacher(S) are to be commended-the children learned you don't have to have a Hollywood costume to put on a very memorable performance. Fabulous teaching and learning there.

grandma, mama or whatever, it is a proud moment whenever a school musicale takes place. the part i like best is when they're all singing, each one tries to sing so loud so as to be heard. things like this warm the heart, for sure. a lovely colour tone you did here and the children are so beautiful, all of them.
April 27th, 2017
A beautiful capture of those cute kids. Great processing on the colour.
We have n`t grandchildren so I do n`t know the feeling but I supose not much different as you own kids but without the daily problems you have as being the parents. .

@gardenfolk @mbrutus @pamknowler @maggiemae @jamibann @joansmor @louannwarren @summerfield @pyrrhula
To each of you, thanks you for your kindness toward me that you should comment on my grandchild's thespian debut! We pretty much realize that we parents and grands are all enthralled with our little ones, but no one else need be. So thank you for that!

@pamknowler Pam, they really were an adorable group...so eager to please (and wave at their parents from the stage!)

@maggiemae The fairytale mix was a brilliant move so as to incorporate more children into the roles!

@jamibann Didn't expect we'd be sitting in front, but not as many parents were there as I thought would be. Most were probably at work on a weekday morning.

@joansmor It was quite fun! Next, here on the high school (boarding school) campus we're looking forward to a 3-night run of performances of the musical, "The Sleepy Chaparone". We've seen several good ones here in the past, so really looking forward to this one that I know less well.

@cruiser It had the feel of "a backyard play" the kids might put on for their parents in the back yard on a summer's night! (Nice childhood memory of my own!)

@louannwarren Thank you, Sweet Friend! Each of the kids brought home the brown, craft-paper bear's head! When Ken put it on his over-sized head, we all agreed it looked more like the top of a cow's head!

@summerfield You're so right, for hearing voices, the singing was best! "Voice projection" is not the strong suit of a six-year-old on stage! As for beautiful, this is a dear age when they're completely unaware of how adorable they are, and they need no ruses or makeup to enhance it all!

@pyrrhula This brought us back to seeing our own girls in school musicals ...so long ago, it seems! You're 100% correct that we can Attend, Adore, Clap with Appreciation and just stand by to receive hugs and kisses!

Thank you again, ya'll!

What a precious Kodak moment!

That turned out well!
April 28th, 2017
So cute. Definitely a Grandma moment you will remember. We always loved the kids "theatrical" and musical programs. Fun days.
