Don't Forget Your Daily Fruit Intake!

--Greyhound--
2 oz Vodka
4 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice

5-A-Day, What do you say?

One shot and I was ready to go to press! Thank You "Sir Francis Drake"!

(Organic fruit picked 10 minutes ago, so only washed it...didn't try to eliminate the markings on it... It's the Real Deal)
A lovely capture, Louise, with the duck swimming by in the pool. At, first I thought the drink was a margarita ( my favorite) because of the lime on the glass! Lovely lemon fav. :)

@gardenfolk Grapefruit! The tree is loaded, and no one really eats that much grapefruit! I thought of the theme this week and had to have some fun with it!

Probably not for breakfast - hope that grapefruit juice is not too bitter/sour! Some grapefruit are really quite sweet!

@Weezilou Oops! My mistake! Our lemons were that big last year and bountiful too. This year I got ONE lemon! :(

@maggiemae You're the second person to ask if the fruit is tart, Maggiemae! It is SO SWEET! I wouldn't need to add any sugar, even to drink it without vodka! It's 1:30, so while a bit early to drink (and I actually seldom drink!) I wasn't about to waste that one!

@gardenfolk You got the Magnolias! We have fruit laden trees, and everything's sweet and delicious! We really got bountiful crops this year...even lemons!

Big smile!

Good one! Are you getting the rain down there?

Our grapefruit tree died this year but a Salty Dog?Greyhound was Kirby's favorite cocktail when we had it. Fresh red grapefruit. I don't like it but they were beautiful!

@catwhiskers I just looked up to see the sun shining through the window! We have some high clouds, but I read https://www.facebook.com/groups/ThomasFireInfo/ to get the latest about what's happening mid-coast. Fingers crossed that all goes well...

Mmmmm. This looks delicious! I always go by Barcelona time when testing the “it’s 5:00 o’clock somewhere” rule. When it’s 1:30 in Texas, it’s 6:30 in Barcelona! 😊

@stownsend I don't need the extra salt, so will pass on that variety, but I do love the Greyhounds. My daughter used to work as a bartender, so I once asked her what I could do with all the grapefruit! TaDa!

@louannwarren So you have a drink with lunch and call it 5 o'clock in Barcelona? Isn't Spain wonderful?! (In actuality, I fell in love with the Sangria in Malaga...good think I don't live there! I'd most definitely want my 5-a-day in a pitcher!)
March 21st, 2018
@Weezilou when I’m trying to justify a drink before 5:00 I’ve been known to give the time in Barcelona. It works every time!

I use lemon, honey , genever (Gin) and boiling water. But only when I`ve got a flue.
Ketel one . is this our Dutch Gin factory?

Sounds wonderful! I do love a cocktail! Fresh from the tree how fabulous is that! Lovely image with the softness of the pool as the backdrop! Fav! Cheers!

That looks very refreshing.

@summerfield haha! Pretty much says most everything you need to know about my animal-friendly back yard, doesn't it?!
March 22nd, 2018
Looks like a wonderful place to "set a spell"!
March 22nd, 2018
Mmmm, I'm coming over to your place at drinks-o'clock.
March 22nd, 2018
Beautifully composed (along with gliding duck ...) and looks very tasty too!
March 22nd, 2018
Lovely composition. You must have a very productive garden :)
March 22nd, 2018
@pyrrhula Yes, Ferry, that is a Dutch-produced gin/vodka! Ken happened to be reading me the label before I set it up, and I thought "How fun that I know people there!"
March 22nd, 2018
@merrelyn Thanks, Merrelyn! We have 14 fruit-bearing trees... We'd give more of it away, but this is Southern California, and everyone else has fruit trees, too! For the most part we juice the citrus as it would be impossible to eat every piece!
