Nova Scotian Bagpipes to Herald the Arrival of the Bride
Life here is nothing short of idyllic in that the entertainment never stops! At 9:30 we went up the street were people were gathering with their Golden Retrievers for a parade across town. In all, there were 57 with their people. We saw friends we hadn't seen in awhile & were introduced to more neighbours. When that event ended, we regrouped and went to the dockside to watch the wooden boat sail-by and regatta...and saw more friends. I was asked by one couple if I could get their Christmas photo for them as they're visiting from Alberta. Back home at 1 I settled in to go through the many photos...when a bit later I heard bagpipes across the park. Camera in hand I went to find there was a wedding gathering at the inn across the street and a nice looking young man playing the pipes. I chatted with some tourists taking photos of their own and noted the southern accent. It took awhile to get a picture of this man without all the cars coming in for the wedding...or looking toward our house, the playground equipment was in the way. I was kneeling at his feet when I knew I'd gotten the best that was going to happen... Passing back by the tourists, we struck up a conversation at 4:05 & I took their photo since they were from North Carolina. We had a lovely visit, so after awhile I asked if they'd like to come see the house. It wasn't until 5;45 (photo time stamp) that we said goodbye and promised to share pictures!
My friends back in California wouldn't believe how busy we are here every day! And all that we did is within a short walking distance! So NOT southern California!
@steveh Nova Scotia = New Scotland... This treat is not at all uncommon...but I'm not always ready to get out and get a photo! (His skills left something to be desired, but he gave it his best...I suspect he might be part of the wedding family, and he certainly looked the part!)
My brother in law is a pipe major. I love the skirl of them and the way the kilt moves when they move. See everyone thinks I'm Irish. Dad's family are through and through but mum's side are Ulster Scots!
Taking pic.`s united people.
