There sat Fred watching us after dinner. I glanced at the picture hanging on the wall ... I looked at Fred ... and said to Ken, ":Don't let him move! I have to get the camera!"
Thus began the evening project! (Just for fun, if anyone knows what PS item can elongate a photo, I'd love to know! ...future reference!)
For those of you who may never have heard of the Pageant of the Masters, it's been held in July in Laguna Beach, CA for absolute years! (As a child I first read about it in Life magazine.) Tableau's of works of art are recreated on stage with people, and they hold the poses for about 3 minutes. It's a stunning spectacle and people wait years to obtain tickets.
Here's Fred on stage tonight, at no cost, and for your viewing pleasure.
@danette You are so dear! Thank you...you've been a terrific audience! Did you see my note to you as to how recreate a "quilt"? What software do you use? The image above requires a cat & some matching artwork...not for beginners (haha!) but the quilt is something anyone could do (easily!) And you'd be amazed how many steps you could take it from there... I'd be happy to assist if you'd like... That said, MANY here can do far better than I can, but I can handle the basics pretty well... Let me know :)
That is so, so cool!! Fred in the Pageant of the Masters....he does deserve to be on stage!!! Is that your checkered floor, or did you do that in PS? As for elongating, I seem to remember there was a button or command for "liquefying", where you can make people skinny, or remove their love handles....might want to give that a try!
@panthora Thanks Osia! I cut Fred away from the cluttered background and found the checkers on Google images. Matched the wall as best I could...ran it through Perfect Photo Suite for some texture...then again in PS filters for the crackley finish (which doesn't show up here...) You KNOW how much fun I was having with this! (Sleep? What's "sleep"?)
@panthora Just struck me...you must have gone through art school before studying architecture... Remember having to copy works of art to understand how techniques were accomplished?
@danette I haven't used Lightroom , but people tell me it's like Photoshop...maybe a bit less complicated. If you'd every like to write and ask for an assist, I'd do my best to help. I'm not all that technical, so people I've helped around here have followed pretty well...
Great work Louise, love it. Try Transform (File menu) in PhotoShop for elongating an image. I haven't used it much, but think it would do what you want. If that doesn't work try Free Transform (File menu).
@ceilidh I told Ken what you wrote and he said, "DIll died but has reappeared and is living in Ireland"...I like that notion! This was "Dill... http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-05-27 (He was certainly my creative muse and all of 365 knew him well!) I saw him around for a long while before we got to know his owners, and until then, I called him "Pearl". Later we all would laugh at that choice of names and he was a very massive male!
I love that Fred has become a member of Pageant of the Masters. Well done Louise! Now I hope this photo of Fred will be hung next to the now less known master cat picture.
@overalvandaan What about some of the free programs available on the Internet? I wish I had the name of one to hand to you, but I used a couple to help friends who have no PS, and they had a great deal of possibilities in them. In this image, I did use masks to layer the images...took the tile floor off the Internet (Google Images)...used the eyedropper to pick up the background orange, and then I smudged it all up to mimic the original. You've certainly got the skills...just in need of software, it seems! I wish you the best!
