A Little Night Music by Weezilou

A Little Night Music

We returned to St John's church this evening to hear Symphony Nova Scotia...the music was exquisite! The program opened with "Hayden Variations" by Brahams, followed by"Violin Concerto no. 1 in G minor" by Max Bruch. It featured renouned violinist, Martin Bever. The program listed 3 paragraphs of his credentials and said he was in demand all over the world. How lucky are we to have him here this evening! The opera students were in the audience, and I'm so glad there was a full house. There was more lovely music after the intermission, and during that time, I took many more photos. I am amazed that there is not a blur of motion in this bracketed photo. I'll be trying this again, now that I see the results are good.

Thanks for all the lovely comments you've been leaving. I'm encouraged to keep trying for better images while I have a wealth of them nearby at hand!
Magical! Love the soft glow of the lights shining down on the symphony. Fav.

I love concerts in churches. The acoustics are usually outstanding and allow for a rich experience. Hayden Variations is a fave. I bet is was wonderful!

@ethelperry @voiceprintz Typically I wouldn't add the names of the pieces played, but I knew from some past comments, there would be a few who would be interested to know. Thanks for being there for me!

@panthora Thanks to some suggestions from Onyx12, I bracketed this 3 stops (the widest this camera allows) and put iso on 100 and aperture on 8 (again, the smallest I can find without further study of this new camera...) I sat in the balcony at the front railing, so I had a perfect place to set the camera for no movement. What REALLY amazed me is, expecting to have a sea of blur amongst the musicians, I can see most of their faces perfectly, especially when I enlarge this! I suspect that happened because one image is very dark, one very light, so the average came away with little movement. With another (organ) performance at the church tonight, I plan to go with my tripod to get some good night photos of the church lit up. At intermission Friday, I had no good place to rest the camera...

Looks like a beautiful setting, both visually as well as acoustically for an evening of classical music. Looks like that would have been very enjoyable! Wonderful capture of this beautiful church and the musicians!
