"This 15 minute documentary tells the story of Denis Smith. Two years ago he was in a high pressure sales job suffering with depression, debt and alcohol problems. Then he discovered light painting, and his life changed forever..." http://vimeo.com/21338911
@kalexa
Just finished watching it. cool story. i didn't know about this guy. I found out about orbs last year while looking up light painting. I know another guy in Perth who creates awesome light painting images, including orbs.
Thanks for sharing :-)
Oooohhhh...I'll bet you did get alot looks doing that. The results are awesome. Fav for me. This is terrific how you did the light painting in front of the bridge...
@espyetta Thanks. Planning a few more of these near landmark buildings, a couple of props arrived yesterday. Just have to get my brain to agree to go out on a cold winters night
I want to quiz you @abhijit !! :oP We are headed into the city for our wedding anniversary next week, i've been practicing orbs... but what do you find the best to use? A string of battery operated LED's all tied together or a single LED...? LOL lmk if you dont want to reveal your secrets lol!!
@sam_cr it depends on what you want to do with it. A string of light all bunched into a ball makes a bright orb. Works well if you are doing it as part of landscape with extra long exposure and no other sources of light. Single LEDs work well too, especially if you have other sources of light, like in the above shot. Here I had two LEDs, one about halfway down the string.
A string of lights swung without bunching up also gives a cool effect. A few examples below http://365project.org/abhijit/365/2012-08-24http://365project.org/abhijit/365/2012-06-29http://365project.org/abhijit/365/2012-09-20
@abhijit Sweet!!! thanks heaps!! I saw at the reject shop a few weeks back the little LED's that you can put on your fingers... might go and pick those up rather than trawling ebay for a string of lights, were headed to the city so will have back light! I dont get out at night often (especially with drew) so certainly going to make the most of it! thanks so much for the info, your a champ! x
