This huge but cute rubber duck is floating around Darling harbour in Sydney as part of 2013 Sydney festival. It is a creation of dutch artist Florentijn Hofmanand has made appearences around the world, including France, Japan and Brazil
My kids were thrilled to see it
Holy crap that is MASSIVE!!! Like, take over the world, MASSIVE!!! Fav! Awesome capture and great reflection... this will PP ;) Oh and did I mention how MASSIVE this is?? lol.
I live near a river that host a yearly event called, "Ducks on the Ohio" ... they sell tens of thousands little rubber ducks and release them ... then they pick one that crosses the finish line as a grand prize winner.... If they sold ducks this size, that would REALLY draw a crowd :)
I thought you had photoshopped this duck into your harbor shot until I read your description! I did a double take when I saw this - lol!! A fantastic shot!
that's a big rubber duckie. guess the boys didn't take it home hey? :-) fabulous capture and reflection. that water is always mirror-still, does it ever get windy around there?
Great work - I initially thought it was forced perspective. I did read last week that it was coming - can't believe it's hear already. Lovely work Abhijit :)
now there's something you don't see everyday!!!!! very cool long exposure shot... love all the reflections... i have to say, tho, i find that rubber ducky kind of creepy... the thought of something that dumb and that big, well... it's kind of the stuff of nightmares, no?
I hope it comes somewhere near us one day! I am in Atlanta, GA. Not sure we have proper water for it. We could have it at LakeLanier! We have a house up there and the lake has sme event to race little rubber duckies. It would be perfect for that! The reflection is amazing! I love 365 because I can see sites like this! Thanks for posting! :0) fav!
Ha! This was on BBC UK news and I wondered if anyone here would post a photo! What a wonderful image, great reflections and a wonderful thing to make people smile! :-)
It's one thing taking a photo of a giant inflatable duck, I mean - it's a pretty big target, but it's another thing showcasing it like this. Great colour, great reflections, great city lights. Well done.
I saw the BBC news article on here about it and was wondering if any of the Australian 365ers would catch it! Amazing and somewhat strange, too. Love how you caputured it at night with this great reflection! FAV
This is awesome Abhijit! I knew that it would make the PP. This is also the strangest thing that I've seen. The yellow really pops against the surrounding darkness. Great job taking the time to get the shot! FAV.
thanks :-) very little work on my part.
Great night shot!
That is awesome.
Coolness.
I've been waiting to see this duck in action in 365ers posts.
Beautiful in every way!
Thanks everyone. When I was taking this shot, I had no idea I would get this kind of response. This was one of those in a hurry shots. kids were running around. Didn't have a tripod so had to put the camera down on the ground on the edge, lens hanging on the water :-)
thanks again for the awesome response. This is easily one of my most viewed shots.
Thanks :-)
