shed

Mary challenged me to try some architectural images this week. Not details, but a "good portion or all" of a building, this in a landscape dotted by unadorned and uncomplicated squares and rectangles. However! There are two odd triangular barn/sheds just down the road and the sky was filled with clouds, so on the way home from an errand I stopped by. This was once an old homestead. The old house is long gone with just three trees left and a very tidy "yard."
Mary @mcsiegle Most of the buildings that dot the landscape and small towns are very simple squares and rectangles. This is one of two sheds on an old farmstead just down the road. I've always wondered how they came to be shaped the way they are. Like roofs set on the ground. Is this what you were thinking of?

Such an interesting building. Whatever type of B&W treatment you used gives it a magnificence that gives it the look of some 30's photograph of rural America. How great that it's already been on the Trending and Popular Pages. Mission well accomplished! Absolutely architectural.

@mcsiegle Thank you. I edit in Lightroom, and then took it over to Silver Efex. Went for one of the more dramatic effects there, bringing out structure and adding contrast. This building has been standing decade after decade after decade and I liked the dramatic sky. Might have gone a bit over the top, but I generally lean toward a softer look and this was a change.

I'm a sucker for the more dramatic treatments in sfxpro and this one works so well here - easy Fav.
