Rob Z challenged me to produce a composite image. This is two images put together in Affinity. It's been ages since I tried layers and combining photos, and this is the first time I've used Affinity. I actually found it much easier than my old Photoshop Elements, though my basic lack of knowledge about tools does make it a bit time consuming. I do wish I would have had nicer light and skies for the mailbox image, but I put too much time into this not to post. So, here's a composite! Will there be more? Time will tell.....
LOL - this is such a good idea - and very well done! I was interested to hear what you said about Affinity. I've been looking for an editing program for a new computer - I downloaded the free trial for Elements but i honestly never felt very comfortable with it. It seemed very "clunky" and also very controlling! After reading your comment I think I'll have a play with Affinity. Cheers Rob :)
Assuming that the cats are the center of interest, the light on the mailbox photo seems to me to be correct. However, there is always a however, I'm thinking that a more neutral light on the cats would have been better. How to explain the direction of light on the cats with the light on the mailbox? Scale also says that you have a large rural mailbox which the size of the cats implies. First impressions, its an excellent composite, look too hard and you can come up with flaws, but first impressions wins.
@byrdlip Thank you for your comments. I had read that it is best to take both photos with the same light. These two photos are from two different days. I did try to play with the cat light a bit and found this odd "spotlight" feature in Affinity which I played with on the cats. In retrospect maybe they didn't need that "spotlight" ... it was cool though! I knew this would be super rough as I've never done a composite and there are a lot of flaws. Baby steps!
Keep up the good work.
