@vignouse No...not a composite. I don't really do composites, though I keep meaning to learn. I only noticed the little flakes atop the larger flake when I opened the file. They actually just landed like that. My first image of the larger flake did not have the smaller ones, but just a second later there they were.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond They do look like this to the naked eye, albeit much smaller. I used my macro lens with an extension tube, then cropped it.
