Bawling calves, bellowing cows, dirt, smoke, with lots of food, beer, and socializing at the end of the day. Brandings are normally a big social event, and large brandings may have up to 100 gathering to ride, rope, wrestle, brand, and inoculate spring calves. Today we gathered the older calves and branded with a crew of about ten, most of whom have been social distancing while calving. To keep the groups small we will have to brand one or two more times. Who would have thought that we'd have to make allowances for social distancing on the ranch.
Very dynamic with the position of the horse looking forward and the rider looking to the side. The effects of the pandemic are so varied. Stay well and hoping your cowboys do too!
