Park Near MacDonald's

Saint Petersburg has numerous small park areas. This one is across the street from the largest MacDonald's restaurant in the world. Our hotel was two blocks away, so we had to walk down to see it. It is massive, almost a full block long with at least thirty, maybe more, ordering lines. There is LOTS of dining room -- indoors, outdoors, even some up several stairs inside.

We had heard that when it opened in early 1990 that people stood in line for up to six hours to purchase their first Big Mac. A local resident confirmed it. She said she stood in line with her son for 2 1/2 hours. "He had to have that Big Mac", she told us.
Beautiful park. Craziness with McDonald's, huh? I sure wouldn't stand in line for a Big Mac.

Lovely to see candid shots. Lovely park. I understand that Saint Petersburg is an amazing city!! Not filled with so much of the communistic architecture .

@eyesmile Gena, it is definitely amazing. Preferred it to Moscow, of the two major cities we visited. (Yes, we had rain in Moscow, but even so.......)

@valpak Guess they had heard so much about MacDonald's and the Big Mac in the Free World, they wanted a "bite" of it.

@aglennc Good point. I guess we take it for granted since it's always available.
