chili-roast abstraction by aikimomm

chili-roast abstraction

It's that time of year in New Mexico for roasting green chilis. I went out and got my four bushels of them this afternoon; here they are being tumble-roasted. The aroma in my car is heavenly.
Fantastic picture.

The aroma and this photo have me on Cloud 9!

LOL the way you have worded your commentary sounds like you are roasting them in your car! (Which I'm sure you're not doing!) Good shot!

@olivetreeann LOL! It was too late last night for me to think clearly; the aroma in my car is from bringing them home from the chili-roasting place 15 or so miles away!
@cejaanderson Oh yes, that wonderful aroma; the car still smells so good.
@agedrunner Thank you, Richard, for being such a loyal comment-maker and fav-giver. You are the best!

Just an invitation to take part in the F-word challenge. Any photo of something hanging from a chain or rope. There are so many things waiting to be photoghraphed. How about taking a photo of your favourite jewellery. A chain with a pendant or a light hanging on chains from the ceiling. Looking forward to see more photos in this challenge. For details see Discuss, themes...

Love this shot, although it seems to make me really dizzy! The whole roasting things sounds fascinating.

Very cool shot.

I like the contrasts in this... but what do you do with 4 bushels of chilis after they have been roasted?
September 19th, 2015
@vignouse When they are cooled off, I spend a good part of a day putting them in quart-size zip-loc baggies and freeze them. I have a separate freezer dedicated to chilis. Every week I thaw out a bag, peel the chilis, and chop them up for salsa, green chili stew, hot sauce, etc. And keep some to put on potatoes, eggs, pretty much whatever I'm eating. A day without chilis is like a fish without water, a kiss without a mustache, or something -- you get the picture.

That sounds like a lot of dedication... but when you like something - it's gotta be done. I've put you on my list of people to visit ;-))

@vignouse Excellent -- I'll look forward to your visit. There's lots to photograph in Silver City!
