Okay, so 365 is a place for experimenting and learning, right?? So... I had a "vision" for this when out on the water this afternoon (our kayaks finally arrived--woot woot!) but I'm not sure the execution resulted in precisely what I was going for. On the other hand, it was worth trying and while not a happy colorful image so many of us here prefer, I'm not entirely displeased with it either.
Only you know what you were aiming for. As for the result, it is really interesting to see such a light photograph. Usually, the b&w photos tend to include a larger area of darker tones. Whereas yours is so very light. And that really makes it stand out.
I try to encourage experimenting too, in others and maybe most difficult in myself. I know that over-saturated, colourful, shots do seem to be popular with the general public and they have their place but, it's nice to see something more thoughtful and thought provoking too.
I don't think a photo has to follow previous ways people would shoot a certain subject so this one did not have to be color to be successful in my mind. I like what you accomplished here even if it might not be exactly what you were aiming for. The dream like quality it has goes very well with the minimal composition. Well done, I say!
