Enchanted Oaks by aikiuser

Enchanted Oaks

When we happened upon this amazing tree while on an evening walk, I had a very specific image in my head when shooting. This is so not it.

I literally had to force myself to post this one when I couldn't seem to create the final I'd imagined. Instead, I took the opportunity to try an entirely different style of editing than what I'm accustomed to or prefer. I sometimes have to remind myself that 365 is for me a place for trying new things and being okay when it fails, or at least doesn't turn out how I'd hoped. ...But sometimes that's hard!

Here's the b/w version:

So very cool. What a great tree to find. Love the processing!

This is so interesting to look at, so many components and tones. Quite pleasing, even if it wasn't your original plan. I'm glad you forced yourself. :)

Although the B&W version is interesting, I prefer this one... It looks like a kid's storybook illustration. I like it.

I LOVE this. I knew you'd make it look super Kung Fu Masta rad!

The processing is quite cool. I like them both. Not sure which one I'd say I like best, though the B/W version is really cool too.

Love your tweaking on this! Stepping out of your comfort zone is scary, but trying new things is part of the journey...you did well!

I really like both the B&W and color. When I saw the thumbnails, I didn't appreciate how much detail and depth there is.

Great shot Jenn even if not exactly what you were looking for.

I love your tags! :)

I think this is very cool!! But I definitely know what you mean about having something very specific in mind, and not getting that end result. I feel your pain!

I sometimes too, fall down the rabbit hole. I like it a lot though!

Very neat processing. Makes me think of Harry Potter.

Sometimes photos end up excellent even if they don't match what's in our head. I like this--it's very surreal looking!

i love this Jenn. Enchanting it is!

You sound like me with the editing...get a little OCD /over the top sometimes trying to do what your mind thought it was going to turn out like...aha...I understand...and I like the color version best here.

Woooaaahhhh.

Oh, this is so awesome, what a composition, i am taking you guys to one place and I am sure you go crazyyyyyyyyyyy there!

Sometimes the B&W isn't quite as B&W as I want for dramatic effect. I agree with @hwy61. I think the subtleties of the color work best here.
