Anyway, the Alabama Hills are at the base of the Eastern Sierra, straight down from Mt. Whitney, just outside of Lone Pine, CA. (Pixelchix just posted a full color stunner of an image of this same tree recently.) Many, many movies (and old western serials such as "The Lone Ranger") are/were filmed here. In fact the main entry into the park is called "Movie Road." One of my most favorite places ever...
