Oso Flaco Preserve, is a series of small freshwater lakes near Nipomo, California. It is home to a great many different birds, including the White Pelicans, of which I happened to snap a few in flight. They were silhouetted by the sunset (true color!) and I added a texture for artistic interest. :-)
This shot is not just good... it is brilliant! Excellent silhouette and bokeh elements.... plus the difficulty level in capturing birds in flight is very high. One of your best in recent times IMHO.
This is STUNNING! Love the colors and the bokeh. Is this out by the Salton Sea? We've been to Nipomo to explore "Salvation Mountain" and chat with Mr. Knight. If you live out that way, I'm sure you know who I'm talking about?
@shawnanne Oso Flaco is near Nipomo, but not the Salton Sea and Salvation Mtn which are about an hour (?) east of San Diego. Yeah, Mr. Knight is a kick for sure. Kinda fanatical to say the least, but he's a very kind and wonderful character!
!!!!!!!!! What a brilliant image! The contrast between the sharpness of the pelicans and the soft background is stunning. And you've captured the motion of the pelicans so well..almost like time lapse all in one frame. Fav'd!!
